A CONGRESSMAN’S LIFE-LONG FIGHT TO BRING RACIAL JUSTICE TO THE US MILITARY AWARDS OF THE MEDAL OF HONOR
November 11 is Veterans Day in the United States. There is no higher award or honor that military heroes can receive than the Medal of Honor.
Yet, it is striking that until April 24, 1991, out of a total of 3,417 Medals of Honor awarded to American service members, only 77 were given to African Americans, but none of these were given to African Americans who had served in World Wars I and II.
This dire statistic changed on April 24, 1991, when the first Medal of Honor was bestowed, posthumously, upon a black American hero of World War I, Sgt. Freddie Stowers of South Carolina, who heroically sacrificed his life in France on September 28, 1918, at the age of 21. At that White House ceremony in 1991, President George H. W. Bush praised the heroism of Sgt. Stowers and twice thanked former Congressman Joe DioGuardi of New York for his efforts to make it happen.

Dr. Charles L. Singleton, was a great inspiring and insightful person and contributor to many things. He was a professional athlete, educational consultant, Purple Heart Awardee, creative and insightful writer, progressive author, Fundraiser for Elizabeth City College and HBCU causes. He was of course a mentor and inspirational presence for many people and organizations.
We, at the Scoop Publications, have been honored to have shared ideas, been a vehicle for his writing genius, and helped him raise (the last he related to me) over $75,000 for charitable causes. I can sense that Ancestor Singleton's, soulful presence is still with us. I feel Doc. Singleton, as we would affectionately refer to him, would want us to continue to be a truthful resource showcasing the striving for Black economic, business, and social empowerment.
Dr. Charles L. Singleton, was one of the greatest supporters of AMS Digital's Scoop News Blogs. It is hard to describe the awesome contribution Dr. Singleton made to our publication. We at AMS Digital and Scoop Publications extend our deepest condolences to Dr. Singleton's family...
For me, Kamau Austin, Publisher of AMS Digital and Scoop News blogs, Dr. Charles Singleton or Chuck Singleton as he called himself, was a priceless mentor, coach, content contributor, Op-Ed writer, and supporter. His involvement will be greatly missed however I can feel the presence of Ancestor Chuck Singleton urging us at the Scoop news blogs to continue and don't quit our editorial mission.

My daughter nZinga Austin, an award winning community media editor, animator, singer, and advocate for our people on the autism spectrum shares her reflections about Dr. Singleton below.
nZinga Austin - Dr. Singleton was a good man that supported our scoop publications. He started writing in our flagship publication the SoutheastQueensScoop.com and later was more featured in his favorite the Black News Scoop.
He was a very dedicated contributor and supporter who helped us quite a lot. He also wrote a lot about his family. My favorite articles from him is when he wrote books for black education. He was also a promising Football player.
He had a doctor's degree in education. He wrote books for children so their parents can help their children be successful.
He was also a teacher in Southeast Queens, New York. I heard he also taught schools in Georgia, South Carolina, and Brooklyn, New York.
He believed you should teach children so they can keep the world going forward. He was also into teaching about aging and fitness. He also helped older people to exercise. Next we share the the memories of our Op-Ed Contributor JV Howard.
JV Howard - It is often hard to find the right words at a time like this but it was words that Dr. Singleton use to enlighten, inform, inculcate, and motivate his audience across a myriad of issues. He implored us to read between the lines of the pages of life for clarity, for understanding, and for growth.
He was a informative writer with his pen and an educator at heart. Dr. Singleton has certainly left the universe in a better place than the way he found it. May he Rest in Peace. Another of our Op-Ed Contributors Tolson Banner shares his memories of Dr. Charles L. Singleton.
Tolson Banner - I never met Dr.Singleton face to face. I met him through the cosmic connection of words: a word to word meeting - if you will.
I started reading his prolific/insightful column and I became transfixed each time I met him in words. His writings always nudged me to readjust my aperture - always giving me additional clarity for my eyesight!
Usually our mourning on a loss loved one focuses on us. Dr.Singleton, taught me to readjust my aperture always - in this readjustment there is no loss instead another ancestor on the other side to watch over and guide us on our spiritual journey in this life.

CREATOR OF NEW BLACK SUPERHERO ANIMATED SERIES REVEALS BEAUTIFUL COMPLEXITIES OF BLACK BOYS
Yaba Baker, Founder and President of Just Like Me World, has launched a new animation studio producing half-hour cartoons and animated movies featuring Black characters as superheroes, princesses, and action heroes based on their popular books Super CJ and Princess Briana.
How many decades have Black parents complained that there aren’t enough cartoons or animated movies that feature Black characters for their children? Well, Black parents do not have to worry about this any longer.
Baker, who created the Super CJ and Princess Briana characters, comments, “We are taking the concepts of authentic representation, Pixar-like storytelling, and social-emotional tools that we have in our books and bringing those same concepts to life in our new animated projects. Our first animated episode will premiere on our Just Like Me TV YouTube channel in early 2023 is Super CJ.”

WHEN WHITE LIVES MATTER T-SHIRTS MATTER THE MOST
On a runway in Paris White Lives Matter T-shirts were showcased by international models, conservative/right-wing radio personality Candace Owens and business mogul Kanye West aka Ye. According to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) this slogan has a direct correlation with antisemitic beliefs held by the Ku Klux Klan and other white hate groups. In light of this, it was determined by the ADL the wearing of this T-shirt must cease and desist - post haste!
Before we could blink our eyes, all hell was released with the force of a jack hammer to smash this slogan and anyone in proximity to the concrete. Kanye was now front and center on the antisemitic stage. Candance Owens got ghost!
Kanye actually believed his First Amendment rights were being abrogated not to mention stifling his creativity. Ye declared he was going “DEFCON 3 on Jews.”
According to Webster’s definition, DEFCON 3 means force readiness increased above normal levels. Under this warning, the military will have 15 minutes prior to launching operations. You mean Ye has a standing army? Kanye says this was a reference to expose the control of Black culture by Jews. He says his remarks were never meant to promote violence against anyone or group.

The Long Island African American Chamber Of Commerce (LIAACC) Is Named Spoke Of The Month By US Black Chambers, Inc.
United States Black Chambers, Inc. names New York State's largest black chamber LIAACC, Spoke of the Month August 2022. The Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. serves the four counties of Kings, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk.
The USBC Community Economic Development Corporation (USBC CEDC), providing services to the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. and Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. was awarded $5 million from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Community Navigator Pilot Program.
The grant, awarded to 51 applicants nationally, is part of a $100 million initiative to help reduce the barriers that underrepresented and underserved entrepreneurs face in accessing the programs and services that they need.

Nationwide — Dr. Lisa K. Brown is the founder of Perfected Papers Plus, specializing in helping doctoral candidates complete the dissertation process. In November of 2022, Perfected Papers Plus will host a Dissertation Writer’s Retreat, offering a professional dissertation editing, coaching, and mental wellness program to support Black Doctoral candidates through the most rigorous part of their requirements.
Black scholars obtaining their doctorate reflected roughly 5% of all scholars completing doctoral programs in the past few years, despite the wide reporting of the rising number of Black women obtaining their Master’s degree while facing the same disparities prevalent in our nation’s educational systems.

BLACK WOMAN, FORMER CORPORATE AUDITOR TURNED BOOK ILLUSTRATOR, LAUNCHES COLORING BOOKS FOR KIDS AND ADULTS
Nationwide -- Meet Jazmine McFadden, a former internal auditor turned artist who is the founder and CEO of her very own online gallery and art store called Art of Jaz. As a painter, writer, and illustrator, she has created her company with a mission to bring back creativity and exploration of life’s abundance for all ages within the African American community.
Based in Charlotte, NC, and as a huge advocate of representation and culture, Jazmine’s colorful artworks and illustrations are relentless and know no bounds. Her inspiration is creating contemporary artworks and coloring books for children and adults that exemplify and pay homage to ongoing themes of self-love, social justice, femininity, unity, family, and spirituality in the African American community. Jazmine’s vision that “art is wonderfully ambiguous and can transcend time and circumstance,” has newly inspired a generation of young collectors and aspiring artists.

After A Few Years Scoop Publications Still Looks To Inform To Help The Black Community RISE!
In the last few years my daughter and I have published, in our news blogs, over 3,665 stories on the dynamic things Black businesses and cultural institutions are doing in my home town of the legendary Southeast/Jamaica Queens, NY, and now globally Black issues. Much of this has been done for free as a labor of love. More recently has this really become more of a viable business.
People ask me "why do you focus on Black news media?" Aren't you limiting yourself?
The reason I focus on positive news in the Black community is because the mainstream media exploits Black trauma for profit. 24/7 on mainstream media mostly what we see is responses to Black pain, cruelty, police brutality, criminality, and racial oppression.
When I was a grassroots activist I noticed we had to rely on the major corporate media to communicate our issues and causes. It became obvious to me that we as Black grassroots activists and advocates for racial justice and empowerment -- can't rely on corporate media to express our truth and story. After a link bait story and hot lead story for good ratings the major corporate media is gone.
However, we are here to show the empowering and critical issues that impact the Black community. So if you have a business or organization doing positive things contact us.

'Listen If You Will' Sports Talk Show With Hosting Duo Titus Showers and Big E' Launches On
WNRR 1380 AM & 93.3 FM in Georgia November 5th
WNRR Gospel, the original one-of-a-kind radio network delivering fresh and positive shows has ordered a new weekend show called 'Listen If You Will,' starring sports enthusiasts Titus Showers and Eric "Big E" Jones who will break down timely issues in sports and include trivia fun facts with their special brand of humor and entertainment.
"Listen if You Will is an energetic and conversational approach that is refreshing to sports entertainment," says Dr. Sctonda Kelly-Gordon, WNRR general manager and program director.
“We are excited to join the WNRR family with our new sports radio show, says," Showers. 'Listen If You Will,' with Titus and Big E will launch on WNRR, beginning Saturday, November 5, 2022 and air every Saturday from 9 am to 9:30 am (CST).
Showers is also a celebrated gospel singer with a love for all things sports and has appeared on numerous television shows. His cohost, Big E is a respected sports commentator and sports enthusiast.

Known as "Big E", Eric Jones is a sports enthusiast, music industry veteran artist and internet radio DJ from Hammond Louisiana whose journey began as a group member for former R&B groups “Focus” and “12:15." With many years in the industry, Eric has become a strong creative thinker who generates innovative and appealing concepts with the organizational chops to ensure smooth follow-through from beginning to end. Founder & President Regina Showers-Gordon of Petra College Makes History as First African American Woman in Rural Area to Be Awarded National Accreditation in Hammond, Louisiana
Congratulations to Regina Showers-Gordon, founder and president of Petra College as the first African American woman to be awarded national accreditation in rural Hammond, Louisiana.
"Petra College earning national accreditation is a significant achievement demonstrating that it holds quality standards and is engaged in continuous improvement," says Mrs. Showers-Gordon. "It also means that our college has competent instructors and a course load that can prepare students for the next steps in their careers and education."
Petra College promotes innovative and effective higher education programs that are worthy of replication at other institutions. The accreditation bestowed on the prestigious college comes from Atlanta-The Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE).
