Illinois’ First African American Woman-Owned Champagne Brand Commits to Social Impact

As a former wedding planner, Samantha Danielle Dockery understood the importance of a sparkling wine’s flavor profile in appealing to diverse palates during wedding celebrations. She recognized the need for thoughtfully curated sets designed specifically for such occasions, complete with intuitive features like personalization. This passion for love and celebration inspired her to create a brand that honors the journey, rituals, hard work, and joys of your love story. In May 2023, after earning her certification as a Master of Champagne in 2021, she proudly launched LOVELUVV™, a sparkling wine brand dedicated to celebrating life’s most joyous moments.

With the launch of LOVELUVV™, Samantha pledged that 10% of all profits would support programs aiding individuals and families impacted by domestic abuse. This was not just a business decision; it was a heartfelt commitment born from her life experiences. Her ambition transformed the act of enjoying a glass of champagne into an act of solidarity and support for survivors of domestic violence.

WIT Academy Scholarship Program Helps Promising Black Students Excel in Technology

Wade Institute of Technology (WIT), an experiential Silicon Valley-based college for students of African descent pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, announced that it is accepting applications for the 2025 Wade Scholarship Program (WSP).

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be admitted to a master’s degree program ranked within the U.S. News & World Report Top 30 U.S. graduate schools of engineering and/or the graduate engineering program of any of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

“There has been an alarming drop in the number of Black STEM professionals, who were already woefully underrepresented in these fields,” said WIT Executive Director Booker T. Wade, Jr. “This scholarship helps ease the financial burden that is often a contributing factor to the drop-off of Black students in the educational pipeline. We are committed to the goal of promoting increased diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM through expanded educational opportunities.”

Vision Films to Release Relationship Expert Aaron Jordan Jr.’s “Dating My Past” Movie in Time for Valentine’s Day

Vision Films (“Vision”) announces the North American Transactional VOD release of TV personality and relationship expert Aaron Jordan Jr.’s full-length feature Dating My Past on February 11, 2025. Based on Jordan’s successful book, The Power Within, A Woman’s Worth: From Both Sexes, the film is a contemporary Black love story that sheds light on the complexities and personal battles of dating in today’s world, emphasizing self-reflection, love, and the journey of self-discovery.

Written, directed by, and starring Ricky Burchell and executive produced by Aaron Jordan Jr., the film was shot on location in and around the Nashville suburb of Murfreesboro and was first screened on the Caribbean island Curacao.

Synopsis: A couples therapist uses the lessons she learned from past relationships with three exes: one with whom she can’t deny the chemistry, one a sensitive artist, and one that’s seemingly too perfect, to help a struggling couple. As she shares her past with them, all soon realize that true love requires not only being with the right person but also searching your soul to find your best self.
