Civil Rights Attorney Launches National Directory That Will Feature 1,000 Black Lawyers to Serve 1 Million Black Households

Kisha A. Brown, Esq., an award-winning civil rights attorney and speaker Kisha A. Brown, Esq., is the founder of Justis Connection, a Black-owned legaltech platform committed to connecting people with trusted Black lawyers across every legal practice area. As the fastest-growing national Black Lawyer Directory, Justis Connection is proud to announce its national expansion, with a bold mission: to build a powerful network of 1,000 Black lawyers ready to serve 1 million Black households across the United States.

Less than 5% of lawyers in America are Black, a figure that has remained stagnant for over two decades. Yet legal challenges — from protecting assets and fighting discrimination to starting businesses and navigating custody battles — require trusted, culturally attuned legal counsel. Justis Connection was created to bridge that gap.

Husband and Wife, Founders of #1 Black Doctor-Owned Vitamin Company, Tap Dr. Jay Barnett as Brand Spokesman to Advocate for a Healthier Black Community

Dr. Karleena Tuggle-McDaniel and her husband, Darian McDaniel, the founders of ProBLK Health Vitamins, who are committed to building a healthier Black community by offering high-quality, Black doctor–approved wellness products and donating up to 50% of net profits to health initiatives. To deepen and amplify this mission, ProBLK Health has partnered with Dr. Jay Barnett, a leading voice in Black mental health advocacy, as its official Brand Spokesman.

With Black Americans experiencing some of the worst health outcomes in the country—including higher rates of vitamin and mineral deficiencies, chronic illness, and untreated mental health conditions—this partnership is about action, awareness, and access.

Dr. Barnett, a former professional football player turned therapist and author, has dedicated his career to fostering holistic healing in the Black community. His national “Just Heal, Bro” tour has created safe spaces for Black men to prioritize mental health, and now, he’s bringing that same passion for healing to ProBLK Health Vitamins.

“Health is more than just working out or eating right—it’s about making sure our bodies have what they need to thrive,” said Dr. Barnett. “Too many of us are walking around with vitamin and mineral deficiencies that contribute to fatigue, depression, and disease. This partnership is about making sure our community has the knowledge, tools, and access to change that.”

Black-Owned Tech Company Files Appeal Against Kaiser Foundation Health Plan in $900M Case

ViQUAL Medical Technology, a Black-owned biotech company, has officially filed an appeal in its legal battle against Kaiser Permanente, which involves a case valued in the neighborhood of $900 million (according to Law360’s March 22, 2024 article by Marl Karpan in LSIPR – Life Sciences Intellectual Property Review’s publication) to well over $1.5 billion based on estimated profits encompassing years 2012 – 2025 and future projections.

Per George McKinney, CEO of ViQUAL Medical Technology, the appeal alleges serious allegations of misconduct, including the theft of Intellectual Property (IP) and Trade Secrets, as well as corporate exploitation of the legal system to prevent small businesses from achieving their rightful success. The case represents not only a challenge for ViQUAL but also underscores the broader systemic issues faced by Black innovators within the healthcare and biotech sectors.

Black Filmmaker and Director Team Up for Dark Romantic Comedy “Toxic” With All-Black Cast Now Streaming on Apple TV and Amazon Prime

Toxic, the wildly relatable dark romantic comedy from Cinnamon Brown Entertainment, is now streaming on Apple TV and Amazon. Written and produced by Eric Brown and directed by Ethan X Evans, Toxic is a hilariously painful look at what happens when Mr. Nice Guy falls for Ms. Should’ve-Known-Better.

Meet Ron—a good dude just trying to find love. Then she shows up. Beautiful. Mysterious. A little off. The type of woman your homeboy calls a red flag, but your heart (and hormones) call “a sign from God.” What follows is a chaotic dance of love, lies, obsession, and the delusions we all entertain in the name of romance.
