AUTHOR TROY GATHERS RELEASES NEW BOOK "AFRICAN WORLD HISTORY" TO REFLECT ON THE GREATNESS OF ANCIENT AFRICA

Nationwide --  In these recent months, the country has witnessed an obvious racial divide. Although many factors have led up to the atomic bomb we see on the evening news, a cultural split definitely tops the list. Countless groups and organizations are on the frontlines fighting for equality and justice yet there is still a void in understanding each other’s frustration. Author Troy Gathers believes that a suitable solution in addition to justice is education.

“Other communities, as well as the African American community, should be educated on African world history,” says Troy. The systems of racism and prejudice are fueled with seeds of ignorance and the lack of concern for any other cultures’ traditions. Troy wants to close the gap with his new book African World History. He trusts that after reading this book, there will be a shift in energy and new grounds to build as one and not a nation at odds.

DOCUMENTARY RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT VOTER SUPPRESSION ATTACKED BY RUSSIAN BOTS

Atlanta, GA With less than two months before the 2020 Presidential Election, a documentary raising awareness about voter suppression faced attempted hacks by bots from ten different countries, including Russia. There were more than 560 attacks. The Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation was alerted to the attacks within minutes of launching a Google Ad Campaign about After Selma.

The film, After Selma, by Emmy-winning filmmaker Loki Mulholland, takes a deep dive into the history of voter suppression and why we need to challenge it to preserve democracy and equality for all. Mulholland joins NY Times Best-selling author and Emory University Professor, Carol Anderson (White Rage), and civil rights activist Joanne Blackmon Bland, to explore specific laws and events that have allowed voter suppression to persist.

“It underscores how fragile our democracy is at this time. After Selma is about ensuring each and every U.S. citizen has access to their most vital right, which is the right to vote, and almost instantly, we were attacked by the same forces that mettled in the 2016 election. This is serious. This is dangerous, said Mulholland. “We must be as vigilant to protect our democracy and the information to prevent voter suppression as those who seek to undermine it.”

CAMPAIGN FOR BLACK LEGACY FARMERS TO REVERSE THEIR ECONOMIC SUFFERING

Atlanta, GA  The Black Farmers’ Appeal: Cancel Pigford Debt Campaign is a grassroots organizing, popular education, and legal advocacy campaign to rectify the injustice(s) of the Pigford v. Glickman class-action discrimination lawsuit. Black farmers tirelessly organized to file a class-action lawsuit seeking restorative land justice from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for decades of government-sanctioned racial discrimination in the delivery of loans and farm subsidies to Black farmers. The goal of the lawsuit was to restore Black farmers and their agricultural land base through full debt cancellation, federal and state tax relief, monetary damages for economic harm, priority of services, and access to land.

After the lawsuit, the vast majority of Black farmers were left with crushing debts to USDA, looming foreclosures, and no legal recourse to save their land. The USDA continues to foreclose on Black farmers suffering under unconscionable farm ownership loan debts — debts that were to be canceled. Of the more than $1 billion in damages paid by USDA, only 4.8% went to debt relief. The sticker shock of a $1 billion settlement buried the truth that the $50,000 cash payments meant little for Black farmers who owed multiple times that value. The $50,000 compensation payment was derived through woeful conjecture — Tuskegee Experiment survivors received $37,500; thus, $50,000 was enough for the Black farmer.

JEWISH TEEN OVERCOMES TRAGEDY TO BRING RACIAL UNITY TO CHICAGO

Chicago, IL  16-year old Coby Kamish lost his mother to cancer in 2019. Kamish’s mother had dreamed of seeing her son pitch in the MLB. However, Kamish's private school, Rabbi Oscar Fasman Yeshiva High School in Skokie, Illinois, does not have a baseball team.

Kamish desperately needed to find a team to showcase his incredible baseball talent. Kamish resorted to playing for a larger Jewish school that wasn’t giving him the innings on the mound that he deserved, as he wasn’t officially enrolled in the school. The whole experience of playing for a school where Kamish was by far their best pitcher but didn’t get the same opportunities as other kids was frustrating. In fact, Kamish’s numbers were astounding. He had pitched 6 innings over four games for this school with 15 strike-outs and not allowing a single base-runner. Kamish’s father, David, had instructed him to be silent and accept whatever innings he could get on the mound.

AFRICAN-AMERICANS SUE THE UNITED STATES IN INTER-AMERICAN COMMISSION FOR THE RIGHT TO MANAGE THE CORONAVIRUS

Atlanta, GA -- African Americans who are recognized as an Afro-descendant Tribe by the Inter-American System have requested an emergency order of "Precautionary Measures" to manage the Coronavirus of their Tribal members. The request was filed in the Inter-American Commission by Chief Justice Mustafa Ansari, an international lawyer and member of the International Bar, who is representing the Afro-Descendant Nation Confederated US, a tribe of over 160,000 registered citizens and 44 million unregistered citizens.

Justice Ansari alleges that Afro-descendants are particularly vulnerable because of physiological and epigenetics markers resulting in high blood pressure, diabetes, and colon cancer. Chief Justice Ansari says this combination has proved to be extremely fatal when combined with poverty, race, crowded housing, homelessness, access to hospital care, and the return of prison releases.

CONCERNED BLACK MOTHER’S’ ANTHEM: BLACK MOTHERS STILL BOLDLY SPEAK ABOUT THEIR PAIN

Dallas, TX --  As more and more Black bodies are assaulted by police and Black life is devalued by the justice system, mothers are experiencing great emotional and spiritual trauma. Sheron C. Patterson, mother, author, pastor, releases “Concerned Black Mothers’ Anthem“ to highlight their concerns.

“We are mothers of those who are treated as others, or as inferior,” said Rev. Patterson. “There is a national disgust for the presence of Black bodies in public spaces. I have not experienced the tragic death of a son or a daughter in the streets of this nation- yet. There are millions of mothers like me who hold their breath when one of ours exists the front door.”
