New York Bound
“Bronzeville The Musical”
Set to Make
Historic Debut at
the legendary Apollo Theater

In a groundbreaking move, the Mahdi Theatre Company is set to unveil “Bronzeville The Musical,” a powerful homage to the historical significance of Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood, on November 16th and 17th at the legendary Apollo Theater in New York City. This marked debut promises to captivate audiences with its moving portrayal of resilience, culture, and community.

Bronzeville The Musical” chronicles the transformative journey of a father and his wayward teenage son as they navigate the complexities of their family’s heritage. This poignant production weaves together themes of redemption and the importance of legacy, while poignantly reflecting on the Great Migration — a period during which millions sought new lives in the North.

Through its rich narrative, the musical spotlights the vitality and artistry of Black history, showcasing the profound contributions of the Bronzeville community.

“This project was born from the urgent need to change the narrative surrounding urban Black youth,” said Producer and Director Margaret Mahdi. “Our artistic responsibility is to honor the legacy of those who came before us, especially in light of events like George Floyd’s tragic death and current migration challenges. ‘Bronzeville The Musical’ serves as a vital platform for ongoing discussions about identity and heritage.”

Amber Books Presents “African American History in the United States of America (Volume Two)”

African American History in the United States of America (Volume Two): A Blueprint for Monetizing REPARATIONS skillfully recounts the journey of the millions of African slaves (men, women, and children) who arrived in Jamestown starting in 1619 and comprises the horrific atrocities – savage rapes, torture, and murders – carried out by the white males who stole and sold them for over 200 years up until the Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863.

Because the truth about Black History slavery has been withheld by the powers that be, It is a little-known fact that the first African slaves did not arrive in the United States of America, they were Spanish slaves arriving in Jamestown, Virginia a British colony.

Driving Diversity: Pioneering AI Solutions in Clinical Research

In the ever-evolving landscape of clinical research, the importance of diversity cannot be overstated. Historically, clinical trials have often underrepresented various communities, particularly BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) populations. This lack of representation can lead to skewed results and limit the applicability of medical advancements to diverse populations.

Divergent CRO is at the forefront of addressing these disparities through discovering innovative applications of artificial intelligence (AI).

The Challenge of Diversity in Clinical Trials

Clinical trials play a crucial role in developing new therapies and medications. However, the underrepresentation of BIPOC communities in these studies has been a persistent issue. Factors such as socioeconomic barriers, historical mistrust of the medical system, and lack of access to information have contributed to this challenge. As a result, the medical community often needs more data to ensure that treatments are safe and effective for all populations.

Divergent CRO's Commitment to Change

Divergent CRO recognizes the urgent need for change and has committed to enhancing diversity in clinical trials by leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies. They aim to ensure that BIPOC communities are included in research and actively engaged and represented.

Controversial Black Hair Exhibit in NYC Reveals the Truth About White Privilege
The exhibition opens on October 10th at
7pm at Restoration Plaza, in Brooklyn, NY.

Would you change your hair for a job? This bold question lies at the heart of BAD Hair Uprooted: The Untold History of Black Follicles, a groundbreaking exhibition set to open on October 10th at 7pm at Restoration Plaza in Brooklyn, NY. Through a collection of powerful interviews with non-Black individuals, this exhibition offers a fresh perspective on hair discrimination and the far-reaching implications of unequal hair rights.

While celebrating the beauty and diversity of natural hair, award-winning Social Entrepreneur and photographer Mireille Liong, M.S., seeks to uncover the deeper societal biases that continue to fuel hair-based discrimination. BAD Hair Uprooted flips the script, exposing long ignored prejudices that extend beyond personal appearance and dive into issues of race, identity, and self-expression.

From BAD Hair Uprooted, the Untold History of Black Follicles

Black people are uniquely pressured to conform to Eurocentric hair standards, particularly in the workplace. For Black women, this often means chemically altering their natural hair or wearing wigs and weaves to meet restrictive and outdated dress codes — just to maintain employment.

The consequences of these pressures are staggering: 73% of Black women suffer from hair loss, class action lawsuits are mounting against companies that manufacture toxic relaxers, and the Black hair care industry has ballooned to billions, disproportionately impacting communities of color.

Rev. Dr. Georgia A. Hill and Diane Proctor Reeder Reveal the Powerful Connection Between Black Women and Women of the Bible
Authors Rev. Dr. Georgia A. Hill (left) and Diane Proctor Reeder (Right)

Rev. Dr. Georgia A. Hill and Diane Proctor Reeder, two African American authors from Detroit, Michigan are on a mission: to combine their faith, their Black-ness and their female-ness to tell a unique story that combines those three aspects of their lives.

Black women are everywhere: in the courtroom and the kitchen in churches, in classes teaching kids, in pulpits preaching sermons, in countries serving as missionaries, and in business as CEOs—and yet the next generations will not be able to read about them unless the books are written,” says Rev. Georgia.

Diane comments, “The amazing women of the Bible, we find, have stories just as compelling, just as dramatic, just as difficult, and just as deeply spiritual as the men. They are just largely unsung and underexplored.”

Combine these two groups of underappreciated, underrecognized women and you have their bookA Cloud of Women: The Powerful Connection Between Black Women and Women of the Bible (published in January 2024 by Our Daily Bread’s African American VOICES Collection).

Dr. Laura Borland Launches
New Platform To Support Dads
And Combat the
“Invisible Parent” Syndrome

Dr. Laura Borland, DSW, known as the “Dadvocate,” is excited to announce the launch of Dad-Ease, LLC, a Black-owned organization dedicated to addressing the pressing issue of the “Invisible Parent.” This concept highlights the societal tendency to overlook fathers in their parenting roles, often relegating them to a secondary status when it comes to caregiving and family involvement.

In a world where mothers are frequently viewed as the primary caregivers, many fathers find themselves marginalized in discussions about parenting, leading to an imbalanced family dynamic. The term “Invisible Parent” encapsulates this phenomenon, igniting a need for change in how society perceives and values fathers’ contributions.

“Every day, countless dads step into their parenting roles with love and dedication, yet they often remain unseen and unrecognized,” said Dr. Borland. “At Dad-Ease, we aim to bring visibility to fathers’ vital roles and advocate for the recognition they deserve.”
