Karma's WORLD On Netflix is a Provocative And Entertaining Series

Review by nZinga Austin

Karma's World is another African American character on Netflix.  My father asked "are there any more Black cartoons on Netflix?"

This animation reminds me of Motown Magic because it has music in the cartoon.  Ludacris, the hip hop star turned actor is the creator of this cartoon.  I don't know this show that well but Karma Grant, is one of the main characters in the show and also her brother Keys Grant.

A Powerful New Memoir Provides Real-World Advice on Tackling Adversity

Black Prep: Life Lessons of A Perpetual Outsider By Kimberley Baker Guillemet

In a moving new memoir, Black Prep: Life Lessons of A Perpetual Outsider, author Kimberley Baker Guillemet provides a how-to guide for not just surviving, but thriving in the face of adversity.

“I learned early in life that mindset matters,” says Baker Guillemet. “I repeatedly received the message that I wasn’t privileged enough, connected enough, smart enough, pretty enough, thin enough, even Black enough. And for a time, I believed it. Only after I decided to reject those messages, did I begin to thrive.”

In Black Prep, the South Los Angeles native who later became a successful lawyer, chronicles how she navigated educational and professional environments that were both foreign and uncomfortable.

Baker Guillemet’s journey began at the age of 12 when she was accepted into an elite, all-girls college preparatory school in Los Angeles. She was among just a handful of Black students and was wholly unprepared to prosper in an intensely competitive environment where few people looked like her.

Op-Ed By Tolson Banner

Definitions define the usage of words. Words define language usage for  understanding. As the famed ancestor and street poet/griot Dolemite once  said, “If it’s understood, no need to explain.” But most of us are still trying to  understand the Rittenhouse verdict. Therefore, it becomes imperative we  take a deeper dive for deeper understanding.

When Carl Linnaeus defined the racial human hierarchy in 1735, it appeared as if the famed taxonomist combed through a box of crayons to assign color coded characteristics to the four racial groups of humans which were  overshadowed by his ethnocentricity.

At the top of the heap was Anglo Saxon  Protestant who was vigorous; muscular; flowing with blond hair; piercing  blue eyes; very smart; inventive; covered by tight clothing and ruled by law.
