Black History Month: Award-Winning Author Dawn James Launches the Memoir Blueprint to Help African Americans Preserve Black History Through Their Own Stories

As Black History Month honors the achievements and contributions of African Americans, award-winning author and publishing strategist Dawn James is calling on the Black community to become active participants in preserving Black history by documenting their personal narratives through her newly launched program, Your Memoir Blueprint.

“Black history isn’t just made in history books—it’s made in our living rooms, at our dinner tables, and in the everyday experiences that shape our families,” says James, founder of Publish and Promote. “When we write our own stories, we’re not just preserving memories—we’re creating primary source documents that tell the full, authentic story of Black life in America.”

Author Max Miller Releases
New Self-Help Book “Blame It on the Feel of Pain” About Detangling From Past Pain

Get ready for a transformational journey toward inner peace as indie author Max W. Miller’s new self-help release, Blame It On The Feel Of Pain, inspires readers in a witty, down-to-earth book. Truth and compassion are foretold, using poetic frames called ‘The Wises,’ and the help of opinionated little emojis bringing laughter and thought-provoking conclusions throughout.

The author encourages her readers, whom she also calls partners, to stop wrestling with the hard knocks of the past. She expresses how voluntarily walking back into time precedes trauma healing. Confronting lingering pains is a step toward strength and hope for the future. ‘Blame It’ delves into the author’s life experiences, bringing to life the importance of using Full Circle Moments to find resolutions.

Throughout Blame It On The Feel Of Pain, the reader grows to understand through a unique interpretation that what we are destined to become grows out of the years we’ve already traveled. Further, our future hinges on how we address the pains of the past. Other expressions focus on how desires in the present are carved out of having a clear vision that old, lingering strongholds must be defeated. A history of suffering is a prerequisite for becoming fed up enough to demand enjoyment now!

The Memoir Blueprint offers a proven 60-day system that guides individuals through the memoir-writing process, from organizing decades of memories to completing a finished manuscript. James, who wrote her own award-winning autobiography in just 45 days, has helped over 300 writers preserve their legacies since founding her company in 2010.

“Our lived experiences, the triumphs, the struggles, the innovations, the everyday acts of survival and achievement, these are the narratives that complete the picture of Black history,” James emphasizes. “Future generations deserve to understand the Black experience not just through textbooks, but through the authentic voices of their ancestors.”

The program addresses common barriers that prevent people from writing their memoirs: not knowing where to start, feeling their story isn’t “important enough,” and becoming overwhelmed by the scope of the project. Your Memoir Blueprint provides a chapter-by-chapter roadmap based on your must-tell life events, ensuring writing completion with confidence and clarity.

James is offering free workshops throughout Black History Month to help African American families begin their memoir-writing journey. “Every story matters. Every voice counts. Let’s ensure Black history is told by us, in our own words,” she says.
