Southeast Queens Scoop Question: What inspired the creation of Hip Hop Boobly?

Marzetta Douglas: The inspiration behind Hip Hop Boobly stemmed from a desire to make learning fun, relevant, and engaging for kids from all backgrounds. I wanted to harness the power of hip hop music and movement to reach children in a way that feels natural and exciting. Music has universal appeal, and hip hop, with its strong rhythm, is perfect for teaching foundational skills like letters, numbers, and even life lessons.

Southeast Queens Scoop: Tell us about your role as “Mimi” on the show.

Marzetta Douglas: Playing “Mimi” is a joy for me. She’s a lively character who guides kids through each episode, bringing energy and engagement. It’s wonderful to see how kids respond to Mimi—she makes learning feel like a personal experience, almost like having a friend with them every step of the way.

Southeast Queens Scoop: How does Hip Hop Boobly stand out from other educational shows?

Marzetta Douglas: Hip Hop Boobly uniquely combines vibrant animation with original hip hop tracks, creating an interactive learning experience. Our approach to learning through rhythm and movement makes concepts memorable. With over 400 episodes, there’s a wealth of content for young learners. We also offer a coloring and activity book, turning Hip Hop Boobly into a comprehensive educational experience.

Southeast Queens Scoop: Can you tell us more about the Hip Hop Boobly Show: Coloring and Activity Book?

Marzetta Douglas: Certainly! The Hip Hop Boobly Show: Coloring and Activity Book is available on Amazon and for download. It features engaging activities designed for young learners, allowing them to explore the alphabet from A to Z and numbers from 1 to 10 through fun illustrations and exercises. It’s more than just a coloring book—it’s an interactive adventure that brings letters and numbers to life.

Southeast Queens Scoop: What do you hope children and families take away from Hip Hop Boobly?

Marzetta Douglas: I hope Hip Hop Boobly inspires children to love learning and view education as enjoyable. Learning foundational skills through music can create positive associations, helping kids retain information better. I want families to feel included in this journey—something they can watch together and use as a tool to reinforce concepts at home.

Southeast Queens Scoop: How can people access Hip Hop Boobly and the Hip Hop Boobly Show: Coloring and Activity Book?

Marzetta Douglas: Hip Hop Boobly is available for streaming on its own YouTube channel, making it accessible for families anytime. The coloring and activity book can be purchased on Amazon, with a downloadable version available too. We’re excited to see kids worldwide learning with Hip Hop Boobly and encourage everyone to join in on the fun!

Southeast Queens Scoop: Why do you think hip hop is an effective tool for teaching children?

Marzetta Douglas: Hip hop is powerful due to its rhythm and memorable nature. Children respond naturally to rhythm, which aids memory, engagement, and self-expression. When paired with educational content, it amplifies learning in both effective and enjoyable ways. Hip hop also brings cultural relevance to education, making it accessible for kids who might struggle with traditional methods.

Southeast Queens Scoop: What’s next for Hip Hop Boobly?

Marzetta Douglas: We’re continually looking for ways to expand Hip Hop Boobly’s reach and make learning more fun. We’re adding new episodes and exploring interactive resources for kids and families. The positive response has been thrilling, and we’re dedicated to keeping this momentum going. There’s much to look forward to, and we can’t wait to continue building this educational movement!
