AFRICAN AMERICAN MASTER GUITARIST OFFERS VIRTUAL LESSONS TO BEGINNERS USING UNIQUE AND FUN TEACHING METHOD

Nationwide -- Although the guitar is one of the most difficult instruments to learn how to play, there are always alternatives to giving up. Many people try to learn but quickly get frustrated. The 2020 pandemic has created enormous challenges while forcing many musicians and business owners to think outside of the box.

Earl Carter is a Grammy Awards voting member, Billboard-charting contemporary jazz artist, and touring sideman/multi-instrumentalist. He has been playing guitar for over 45 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. Inspired by his older brother, he began playing at the young age of eleven. After experiencing a performance by the jazz fusion group “Return to Forever”, he immediately knew exactly what he wanted to do when he grew up.

Although self-taught, he was also formally trained on woodwind and brass instruments and was always one of the top musicians in school. During concert band, one of his instructors allowed him to practice alto saxophone in a private room because he was too far ahead of the other students. He later used his classroom knowledge of music theory to sharpen his guitar playing skills.

Video & Article On Earl Carter Continues Below...

By the age of nineteen, he’d already played many local venues with one of the top teenage groups in the Washington, DC area and was given his first big stage coliseum opportunity in Baltimore, MD with a group that goes by the name of Trouble Funk. This was also platinum artist Johnny Gill’s first big show. New Edition, Curtis Blow ft. EU and Roger Troutman & Zapp were also on the bill. Earl was soon recruited by the multi-platinum hit-making group “EU” and performed with them at the Capital Center for one of the largest Go-Go music concerts in history. This led to several sideman, house band, musical director and road manager positions with artists such as Marcus Johnson, Alyson Williams, Bobby Lyle, Freddie Jackson, Angela Bofill, Regina Belle, Mya, Syleena Johnson, Mike Phillips, Michael Lington, Bob Baldwin, Tony Terry, and many others.

Earl is also an accomplished recording engineer and studio musician with numerous album credits and projects to his name. During the late nineties, he recorded guitar and bass tracks for multiple producers at Daddy's House in New York City for Sean "Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment record label. Having toured around the globe for many years, virtually lived in Africa (six out of twelve months per year), worked in television as a band director, and played on many albums, he has now decided to focus more on teaching and sharing his knowledge and experience with others. His unique and fun system was developed after realizing that some people don’t have the time to practice several hours every day as he did as a child. He found that if he made it fun and interesting, his students would be motivated to learn more as they saw themselves progress while experiencing less frustration. Here’s a review from one of his current students:

“I can't say enough good things about Earl's instruction. He's extremely knowledgeable and talented and yet responsive, inspiring, and kind. Rather than applying a narrow and rigid approach to teaching, lessons are built around my abilities and interests and he has taught me new ways of looking at music and playing guitar. I feel very fortunate to be one of his students.” -- David Morrissette

Due to the pandemic, Earl is now spending a great deal of time teaching virtual lessons via online video chats. If you’re ready for a unique music lesson or coaching session experience, appointments and inquiries can be made at EarlTeachesGuitar.com
