Song of Silence (namesake of the book) is a “call to arms” against homelessness and hunger in this American “Land of Plenty”; as it challenges readers to “pay attention” and speak out about this devastating and debilitating escalating crises.

Christina Perry Mitchell (1845-1955), John Thompson’s Great-Great-Great Grandmother, was born into slavery and her “slave master pierced her ear with the markings of his ownership.” The piercing of a slave’s ear, when he or she refused to go free, instead stayed in her slave master’s house, was a common acceptance of bondage and servitude. Early enslavement of Africans in South Carolina existed for 339 years (1526-1865), according to SCIWAY Publications. Note, slavery in the United States of America covered a period of 246 years (1619-1865), and Juneteenth (1619 - June 19, 1865). According to many historical references, Union General Gordon Granger and thousands of federal troops arrived on Monday, June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas to inform Texans that the Civil War (April 12, 1861- May 09, 1865) had ended, and slaves in the U. HERE ARE THE NAMES OF THE 200+ BLACK PEOPLE KILLED BY POLICE IN 2021. THIS GUY'S APP COULD HAVE SAVED THEM

James A. Samuel, founder of an app that turns your smartphone into a personal bodycam that also alerts family members, strongly believes that his technology can save lives.

Last year, more than 1,000 people were shot and killed in the U.S. by police officers, and according to Newsweek, at least 203 of them were Black. James A. Samuel, Jr., the developer of an app called ANJEL Tech that turns any smartphone into the world’s most powerful bodycam, says that his technology could have potentially saved those victims' lives.

James created the app because of his passion for preventing more Black Americans from becoming yet another painful statistic. His app is both a discrete and secure way to immediately start live streaming an incident, and also automatically send alerts and the person's GPS location to trusted family members and friends. The person in need of help can do so quietly without an aggressor noticing, and can also save the footage as video evidence to demand accountability.

Sarah Louise Singleton McLean (1937-2021), “Red Road,” Summerville, South Carolina, Communications Editor, Historian & Archivist of The Family Journal, USA & Overseas: Respectfully, Sarah McLean will forever be remembered for her historical newsletters, family reunions, obituary collection, and literary archive, since the 1950s. Sarah is a 1950s graduate of Alston High School (AHS), Summerville, South Carolina.

 

Sarah’s family archives: records (1815, 1834, 1850) and historical files of letters, obituaries and photographs have helped the editors and writers of the Family Journal, USA & Overseas to publish some amazing stories in Black News Scoop Global News. ACTRESS JERYL PRESCOTT OF AMC'S "THE WALKING DEAD" JOINS SARCOIDOSIS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Critical Campaign Raises Awareness of Prevalence & Severity of Sarcoidosis in Black Women

The Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research (FSR), the leading international nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those impacted by sarcoidosis and accelerating research towards a cure, is proud to announce its partnership with actress and sarcoidosis advocate, Jeryl Prescott.

Prescott is best known for her roles in AMC’s “The Walking Dead” (Jacqui), DC Universe’s “The Swamp Thing” (Madame Xanadu), Netflix’s "Resort to Love" (Naomi King), and most recently “All the Queen’s Men” (Judge Martha), currently streaming on BET Plus.

Prescott joins forces with FSR to promote the organization's Ignore No More: African American Women & Sarcoidosis National Campaign, throughout Black History Month (2022’s theme is Black Health & Wellness) and American Heart Month this February and to reveal her own struggles with this complex rare disease. Prescott’s passion for raising awareness for sarcoidosis among African American women stems from her own difficult journey and her recent diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis, in addition to her previously diagnosed pulmonary and ocular sarcoidosis.

MANUFACTURING FOR THE FIRST-EVER BLACK-OWNED FLEET OF SELF-DRIVING PODS HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN

JéGO Technologies Inc., a Black-owned innovative tech firm based in Miami, Florida, is celebrating that they have officially begun the manufacturing process for their self-driving vehicles called JéGO Pods. To be released in late 2022, these pods will mobilize and facilitate health services such as flu testing, IV therapy, and more. In addition, they have entered the Metaverse.

The Metaverse is a network of 3D virtual worlds focused on social connection. Interested individuals can easily experience this by using virtual and augmented reality headsets.

JéGO Technologies Inc. steers away from a myopic view of traditional tech but instead aims to build an ecosystem that benefits communities. In fact, the company has really put its best foot forward in pioneering the next generation of automation.

MOM PARTNERS WITH HER 6-YEAR OLD SON TO AUTHOR NEW BLACK HISTORY ACTIVITY BOOK FOR KIDS

A new book authored by Andrea Stephenson and her son, Corban, features 50 fun projects to help children and parents remember the scientific contributions of Black people

Best-selling author, Andrea Stephenson, along with the help of her six-year-old son, Corban, has written her sixth book entitled Our-Story Black History for Kids: Scientists. The book has over 50 fun art projects, science experiments, and STEM DIY projects to help children and parents remember the scientific contributions of Black people.

Andrea believes that Black history is important because it instills pride and confidence in children. She experienced this as a 9-years old girl when her older brother and sister-in-law developed a program called Our Story 101. Its purpose was to teach kids Black history and the contributions of Africans to our world.

Andrea started exposing her son, Corban, who co-authored the book, to Black history lessons when he was just 3-years old. To make it fun, she used story-telling and hands-on activities such as games, art, and play to expose him to this information.

Corban’s enthusiasm encouraged her to share this information with other parents and children through this #1 new release book that is now available on Amazon.

Pop and R&B singer Anthony Lewis can do it ALL - literally! The multi-talented singer-songwriter-dancer can also act in a BIG WAY!

Born in Los Angeles to parents who passed down their singing and acting talents to him, Anthony is probably one of the most focused young men in tinsel-town. His ‘work ethic’ is one that is driven and more driven. At any given day, which is daily for him, you can find him honing his 'acting chops' or in the studio working on new music.

Active as an entertainer, since he was a toddler, the clean-cut Lewis developed his voice in the church. As a teenager, he built a following on YouTube through uploaded covers of contemporary pop hits such as Bruno Mars’ Grenade and Frank Ocean’s Thinkin Bout You.

His debut single, a blend of 2 Chainz’ 2012 hit I’m Different and Soul for Real’s 1995 R&B classic Candy Rain — with a guest appearance from rapper Billy Bang released in 2014 caught the attention of music lovers everywhere.  Meet Emmy Award-Winning Journalist, Producer and Talk Show Host Rock Star: Cathleen Trigg-Jones

In celebration of Black History Month, we are saluting Cathleen Trigg-Jones, a rock star in her own right!

The celebrated Emmy award-winning journalist, talk show host, producer and actress has co-starred in more than a dozen TV shows and films, including: Power, Madam Secretary, House of Cards, Homeland, and the Tupac Shakur biopic, All Eyes On Me. She is the Executive Producer and Host of the talk show Chic Chat on iOne Digital and creator and co-star of the hit docu-series We are the Joneses, which airs on Discovery Life. 

A former news anchor and reporter for My9 and Fox 5 News broadcasts in New York City, Cathleen’s on-air career in television, radio and film spans more than two decades. Behind the scenes, Cathleen is fueled by her passion for creating and producing television and film projects under the umbrella of her own multi-media production, advertising and marketing company, Catscape Productions, which she founded in 2006. 

Catscape is a collective and incubator for women in film and television focused on producing content that is responsible, entertaining and socially charged in hopes of changing the landscape of how women are portrayed in the media, in front of and behind the camera. And in keeping with her quest to empower women everywhere, Cathleen is launching an OTT, called iWoman, which will stream content produced by women, for everyone.
