The young basketball team, class of 2030 from New York’s Riverside Hawks Program, has brought home the 2024 AAU National Championship Trophy in their division for the second year in a row. This group of 12-year-olds were an unstoppable winning force to contend with, thanks to Coach Hector Almodóvar, who made this, three in a row having won a previous championship with the class of 2031. His amazing coaching style, his son Amare’s skills on the court, and a team that operates like a tight-knit family unit made the win possible.

Meet the Formerly Incarcerated Woman Who Became the Lady Who Bought the Bank

Despite Latunya Wright having been incarcerated for more than four years in federal prison for her part in a multi-million dollar heist at an ATM servicing company, her journey to becoming "The Lady Who Bought the Bank" is nothing short of remarkable. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she faced significant challenges early in life. At just five years old, she lost her father, a retired military man and business owner, under tragic circumstances.

The trauma didn’t stop there; at nine, she endured abuse from a family member, and by fourteen, she was diagnosed with epilepsy. These adversities could have easily derailed her life, but Latunya had a resilience that would become the cornerstone of her success. Today, she stands as the proud owner of Wright Financial Bank, a symbol of her triumph over adversity.

By the age of fourteen, Latunya was already displaying an entrepreneurial spirit. She lied about her age to secure a job at McDonald's, working after school to support herself.

The following year, she was offered a summer program with the Urban League, where she excelled and was given an office desk, an uncommon opportunity for someone her age. Her quick learning and determination caught the attention of her superiors, setting the stage for her future endeavors.

However, her path was not without obstacles. At a young age, Latunya found herself on the wrong side of the law, making decisions that would haunt her for years. Eventually, these choices led to her incarceration—a pivotal moment in her life that would change her forever.

"How Dem Sponsored Healthcare Helped Me"

"Demystifying claims the
dems haven't done anything for
Black people!"

Barack Obama & Joe Biden reacts to the passing of The ACA Healthcare Bill. Source White House

By Kamau Austin, Publisher Of The Scoop On Black News, BlackNewsScoop.com and the Scoop news blogs and Publications.

We are seeing this political season an onslaught of political opposition to the political campaign of Kamala Harris.  Many of these Black Trump supporters, trolls, bots, and pro-Black imposters raise the issue that the democrats haven't done anything of substance for Black people.

These arguments become heated, and can become so abstract and ideological I wanted to take a different approach by illustrating my points with making it personal.   I'm glad to be alive today because I am a survivor of two different forms of cancer.

And actually the surgeries alone to survive these 2 forms of cancer would have been over $200,000.  My hospitals stays over the last 4 years would have been over $300,000.

Without these critical surgeries and hospital stays I would have died.  I paid nothing out to pocket for these expensive hospital stays because my health insurance was covered by the Affordable Care Act or ACA AKA Obamacare.

Now while some conservatives and others against affordable healthcare call these programs socialist, a significant number of developed nations have universal healthcare already - while the US does not.

Moreover, I had about $300,000 in healthcare costs and paid nothing out of pocket accept the costs of traveling to the hospital.  I thank God I'm still alive and do what I can to stay healthy like exercising, having a strict diet and taking supplements, and doing intermittent fasting.
