We are seeing this political season an onslaught of political opposition to the political campaign of Kamala Harris. Many of these Black Trump supporters, trolls, bots, and pro-Black imposters raise the issue that the democrats haven't done anything of substance for Black people.
These arguments become heated, and can become so abstract and ideological I wanted to take a different approach by illustrating my points with making it personal. I'm glad to be alive today because I am a survivor of two different forms of cancer.
And actually the surgeries alone to survive these 2 forms of cancer would have been over $200,000. My hospitals stays over the last 4 years would have been over $300,000.
Without these critical surgeries and hospital stays I would have died. I paid nothing out to pocket for these expensive hospital stays because my health insurance was covered by the Affordable Care Act or ACA AKA Obamacare.
Now while some conservatives and others against affordable healthcare call these programs socialist, a significant number of developed nations have universal healthcare already - while the US does not.
Moreover, I had about $300,000 in healthcare costs and paid nothing out of pocket accept the costs of traveling to the hospital. I thank God I'm still alive and do what I can to stay healthy like exercising, having a strict diet and taking supplements, and doing intermittent fasting.

However, this isn't just about me I've read from reliable sources that over 4 million Black people have healthcare thru Obamacare. I also read that in part to Obamacare or ACA almost 90% of Black people now have healthcare.
This is a very import part of our health and well being. They used to say you spend all your life building wealth and then spend all your wealth on health (i.e. healthcare costs when you're elderly).
Having access to affordable healthcare makes health a form of wealth. Can you imagine what would have happened to the Black community during COVID with no healthcare?
Blacks suffered disproportionately during COVID, because many Blacks were in jobs classified as 1st responders during the Pandemic. So we were absolutely disproportionately impacted but it would have been far worst without access to affordable health care or ACA.
This is just one thing we can talk about which dems have done that has helped Black people. We can also talk about the $16.1 billion in funding for HBCUs channeled from the Biden Harris Admin, and recently the over $3 billion settlement given to Black farmers because of past discrimination to them. These are just a few tangible benefits we got from supporting the dems.
And I'm one of the people who feels a lot more needs to be done to bring equality to Black people. However, is voting for Trump and the MAGA/GOP Republicans going to help us get more? Seriously?
Some people are saying we aren't getting enough from the dems. Well then let's recognize one of the reasons we're not getting more for Black people is because Republicans (and especially in this period of the MAGA controlled GOP) are opposing things specifically to help Black people.
For instanced is MAGA or Trump for reparations? Nope in fact a conservative organization supporting Trump called Judicial Watch, took legal action against the community of Evanston, Illinois because they gave Blacks reparations. Checkout this article and google the topic it I'm not making it up.
So when you see and hear these different trolls, bots, quasi pro-Black imposters, and conservatives saying the democrats haven't done anything for Black people we can point to many things Blacks have benefitted from (I do believe we still need a lot more to achieve racial equity). I believe we need to elect starting leaders locally who can do a lot more. However, as this article demonstrates we have gotten tangible benefits delivered to our community by the dems.
I'm giving you a very concrete ways the democrats have helped me and millions of other Black people with healthcare and other services. I hope this helps cut threw the misinformation on deliverables Blacks have gotten voting democratic.
