Monroe, known globally for his courageous reporting and dedication to giving victims a platform, on YouTube recently covered a rape allegation involving an employee of Tyler Perry Studios—an incident also reported by more than 30 other media outlets. However, Monroe was uniquely singled out, receiving threatening legal correspondence and, during a live YouTube broadcast on August 11, 2025, a text message that triggered a severe emotional breakdown, anxiety attacks, and ongoing professional harm.

“Storm Monroe was threatened simply for giving someone a voice. That is not only wrong—it’s a violation of his rights,” said Berry. “And I will not remain silent while people in power use money and lawyers to bully journalists like Storm Monroe into fear.
Legal threats against Monroe were reportedly delivered by attorney Darrell D. Miller of Fox Rothschild LLP, on behalf of Tyler Perry Studios and/or Vice President Mark Swinton.
Storm Monroe voluntarily removed the contested content as of August 7, 2025, yet no similar action was taken against the dozens of other outlets who covered the same story.
Berry believes these actions constitute:
• Intentional infliction of emotional distress (Civil Code § 1708.7)
• Suppression of free speech under color of law (42 U.S.C. § 1983)
• Violation of the First Amendment and California Press Protections
As a mandated reporter, Berry emphasizes that threatening someone legally obligated to report abuse is not only unethical—it’s potentially criminal.
It has also come to light that the alleged rape victim reportedly received a settlement of over half a million dollars from Tyler Perry Studios or its representatives, Vice President Mark Swinton.
Berry comments, “If there was nothing to hide, why pay out over $500,000 to a victim to any reasonable person—especially to a victim, unless you are guilty? Storm Monroe, as a top journalist on YouTube, and Berry, as a victims advocate, say this kind of payout raises real questions about whether something was being covered up. And silencing those who ask those questions only makes it look worse.”
She continues, “Storm Monroe is a world-renowned mogul icon to millions. He has helped shape conversations, uplift victims, and tell the stories others are afraid to share. No amount of money, fame, or legal intimidation can erase his voice—or the Truth. Victims will not be silenced. They will be heard.”
