ARMY CHAPLAIN DR. JAMES DARREN KEY SHARES A MESSAGE OF HOPE, FAITH AND MORE
Author and U.S. Army chaplain James Darren Key highlights 40 lessons and stories about race, love, honor, and faith to inspire people during changing times in his new memoir A Long Way from Crenshaw: Lessons and Stories about Race, Love, Honor, and Faith for These Changing Times (published by WestBow Press).
With the purpose of being accessible to all, the author writes in a conversational style. Exploring how life can change, and not always positively, he demonstrates how the human spirit can overcome those circumstances.
Additionally, Key speaks candidly about growing up Black in California in the 1970s and 1980s. Wanting to empower others, the author examines his own weaknesses and fears.
Through this study, he hopes to help people:
• recognize failures and successes along their journey;
• approach race and diversity with sensitivity and courage;
• heal from an unhealthy relationship before starting a new one;
• face trials and controversy with unshakable faith.
You can order "A Long Way from Crenshaw" at Amazon and Barnes & Noble

The aim of personal and professional development is to help women manage their own learning and growth throughout their professional and personal journeys. As PWEN looks to the next 10 years, they hope to make a big impact and empower, encourage, equip, and elevate one billion women globally.
One way they will do that is through PWEN's Next Level Empowerment & Development (NLEAD) Academy, its strongest program offering life coaching, entrepreneurship & business, leadership mastery, and customer service skills certifications. The organization has been able to subsidize 90% of the enrollment fees because of their partners, grants, and generous donors.
PWEN was founded by Sharise L. Erby, MHA and over the years has become a premier organization focused on the personal, professional, and spiritual development and advancement of women. “PWEN is where women come to grow and make an impact,” says Erby. “PWEN's heart is to empower, encourage, equip, and elevate women by meeting them right where they are and becoming a catalyst to help them reach their next level of success.”
And PWEN has not failed to meet its standards. As of December 2021, the organization has empowered over 257,780 women, helped 230 women and a few men start businesses, given out $98,250 in scholarships & awards, provided mentoring & training through the Carrie J. Scholarship Program, and has eight chapters nationally, two internationally, and hosted 155 in-person events, and over 130 virtual events.
This year’s empowerment experience theme is “Breaking Barriers, Shattering the Status Quo, and Building Legacy. The empowerment experience will feature keynote speakers, world-renowned speaker, and author, Dr. Eric Thomas, and Katria Bell, Senior Pastor at Ignite Church in Tulsa, OK, and a black-tie gala.
