AFRICAN AMERICAN WRITERS SUPPORT GROUP ISSUES ITS FIRST JOURNAL

Nationwide  The Diverse Writers and Artists of Speculative Fiction (DWASF) has published the first issue of its journal, Chosen Realities, featuring creators who specialize in Afrofuturism. Afrofuturism is a cultural aesthetic that combines elements of science fiction, fantasy, horror, history, and magical realism to recapture and revise history that was lost to, or rather taken from, the African diaspora. The stories, poems, screenplays, interviews, art, and commentary offer unique as well as provocative visions of the diversity of our global society inspired during this COVID-19 epoch.

According to Stafford Battle, contributor, “It is important that we take a deep breath and consider innovative actions to survive the situation we are stuck in. Artists are always on the frontline of revolution. We must listen to our artists. I feel honored to being a part of the Summer 2020 DWASF Journal.”
