Dream Exchange CEO Joe Cecala Discusses Future of Public Capital for Small Business on Yahoo Finance

Joe Cecala, Founder and CEO of Dream Exchange, In July, appeared on Yahoo Finance's "Financial Freestyle" with host Ross Mack to discuss its mission to build a public market that is designed for small and medium-sized companies. During the interview, Mr. Cecala detailed the Dream Exchange's progress towards registering as a national stock market with the Securities and Exchange Commission and its future plan to answer the market's need for a clearer path for capital formation to entrepreneurs from all walks of life with the creation of a venture exchange after the enactment of the Main Street Growth Act into law.

Mr. Cecala explained that for nearly a quarter-century, the path for small, innovative companies to enter the public markets has been largely closed. "By the time they are going to the public markets today, all the wealth creation, all the opportunity to 'get in early and build wealth by making an investment in a company that is emerging', it is gone," said Mr. Cecala.

The Dream Exchange is being built to solve this problem by focusing on the needs of emerging businesses. It will be the first stock exchange that is privately owned by individual investors, earning it the name "The People's Exchange." The objective is to create a trusted and accessible stock exchange in conjunction with a venture exchange where the most imaginative and innovative companies can find the capital they need to grow and thrive.

Historic National Black Business Conference, Forges Transformative Partnership with
National Black Chamber of Commerce ®

Joe Cecala, Founder and CEO of Dream Exchange, was invited to speak at the National Black Business Conference which took place in Atlanta, Georgia on August 24-26. With a resounding commitment to empowering a new generation of entrepreneurs, a historic agreement that marked the beginning of an unprecedented partnership between Dream Exchange and the National Black Chamber of Commerce ® (NBCC) was solidified and signed.

Dream Exchange
Beyond the historic signing, Joe Cecala lent his expertise to the conference through dynamic panel discussions. Drawing upon his experience as a trailblazer in the financial and technology sectors, Cecala engaged in thought-provoking conversations about the challenges and opportunities that minority-owned businesses encounter in their pursuit of capital.

Namely, since the late 1990's not only has the total number of public companies declined by nearly 50%, the number of small initial public offerings (IPOs) has declined from 70-90% of the IPO market to just 20-30%, according to a white paper written by Dream Exchange in 2018. A proposed solution to this problem is the Main Street Growth Act, a new legislation that will allow for the creation of a new type of stock exchange specifically designed for small and emerging early-stage businesses providing access to capital for more underrepresented businesses.

Help Promote The Dream Exchange

We're honored on this 1st Day of Black History Month To Be Accepted Today To Work With The Dream Exchange. I will help promote the 1st Black-Owned Stock Exchange.

Together we will help eliminate Black economic marginalization and uplift the disadvantaged with business opportunities. God is Good!

The Dream Exchange Will Exponentially Expand Black Participation in
Public Companies

Chicago, IL. - Out of over 6,000 public companies based in the U.S., less than 15 are Black-owned or 0.1%. The Dream Exchange, the first majority Black-owned stock exchange in formation, intends to change that.

The Dream Exchange is being spring boarded by two seasoned executives Joe Cecala, Founder and CEO of Dream Exchange and Dwain Kyles, Esq, Managing Member, DX Capital Partners.

Early-Stage Growth Companies or ESGC's are the hidden gem that have historically only been accessible to a very tight-knit network of ultra-wealthy individuals. As a result of these opportunities not being widely accessible, the wealth gap widens.

Unless you are connected to the circle of high-net-worth angel investors or venture capital firms, you are outside this particular “wealth creation” ecosystem. Those on the outside are oblivious to the next unicorn startup company, until it is already public, and worth billions of dollars. These early-stage growth opportunities have, for the past 30 years, been where the majority of wealth gets harvested in public offerings.

Systemic Financial Racism Requires Greater Insights And Smart Tools To Build Black Wealth

By Kamau Austin, Publisher Scoop Publications

In June, 2022 a compelling meme circulated on Facebook alluding to the 400-year head start whites have over Blacks in the US economic system.  It was ironic in that it was being shared in a Black group on a social media platform with a leaning towards conservative "pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" types.  Even Black conservatives, like others in the society, too often regurgitate the usual ole tropes about Blacks.

This Meme On Social Media ignited negative tropes about Black people.

For instance the following are some stereotypical tropes perpetuated by Black conservatives or financial coaches about the lack of Black financial success:
  • Blacks can't achieve financial literacy because we're trying to achieve acceptance with consumerism.
  • Blacks don't achieve wealth because we don't understand investments and buy real estate.
  • Blacks aren't knowledgeable or disciplined in terms of credit.
These tropes, while having some truthful claims about some Blacks, puts the onus of the present inequality in wealth concentration between whites and Blacks squarely on clueless or undisciplined African Americans.  These stereotypes side step the fact Blacks, in the past and presently, are fighting systemic economic racism, marginalized business ownership, and industry isolation.

It should be obvious individuals can't beat systems by themselves so financial literacy should evolve beyond just having insights on getting a mortgage, Debt to Income (DTI) ratios, and investing in stocks and bonds.  Financial literacy for Blacks should also extend to new technical tools, political, social, and economic advocacy to gain more economic empowerment and collective wealth creation.

Timothy Griggs, a Black real estate investor and mortgage broker is extremely concerned about Blacks and other financially marginalized people getting access to wealth building knowledge and systems.  He's been inspired to help people have technical access to manage their credit and finances.

Griggs, an African American, is a pioneer among a growing number of techno-preneurs looking to harness the communication prowess of digital media and platforms to help put Blacks and wealth seekers on the road to affluence.  He has developed The Good Stewart (TGS) financial system to help those seeking more control and also to understand the ways to improve their credit score and overall wealth.

Timothy Griggs Developed The TGS financial App To Help Manage Credit

His tech innovation is a timely tool for those looking to drive insightfully on the road to financial success. But why is credit, wealth creation, and financial disparities such an important focus for entrepreneurs like Timothy Griggs?

Let's review a small synopsis of systemic racism in the past and moreover - present times that contributes to the lack of Black wealth. Let's touch on some solutions beyond the typical ones floated to develop more Black economic development...

How African-Americans Can Change The Circumstances Of Our Zero Net Worth Dilemma

By Pierre Clark The talk in Chicago about increasing economic opportunity for African-Americans in Chicago and around the country rings hollow in the face of a report from the Chicago Community Trust that Black families in Chicago have a median net worth of $0 dollars while white families in contrast have a median net worth of $210,000

A report from McKinsey and Company and reports from the Pew Foundation indicate that it might take hundreds of years - 228 years, according to one report - to address and fix the disparities. Most of us living now will have been dead and gone for 9-10 generations by that point in time.

What can be done now and in the immediate future about addressing and reversing these depressing findings? And as reports also say the GNP of African American community is over $1 trillion, how can the net worth of those same families in Chicago be $0? And how can we start capturing and recapturing that wealth?

Dad, Son, and Grandson United in
Fight for a Life-Saving Kidney Transplant

Ben Howell, an African American father of three, a devoted husband for over 50 years, grandfather of two granddaughters, and most recently of a one-year-old grandson, is fighting for his life.

He’s seeking a live kidney donor for his O blood type. Unfortunately, none of his family members have a matching blood type. However, his 32-year-old son, Blake, is willing to donate his kidney to a donor exchange program that will save someone else’s life and provide a compatible donor for his father.

Ben was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure last year, a condition that has forced him into a grueling daily dialysis routine. Dialysis is lifesaving for people with kidney failure, but no substitute for the real thing.

Ben has reached the point where even on dialysis, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to control his blood pressure, even with all his medicine. The kidneys help regulate blood pressure, so this can be a side effect of kidney failure.

The best scenario (and quite possibly the life-saving option for him) would be to receive a kidney from a living donor. This can come from a family member, friend, or stranger-anyone who’s healthy and willing. He has received offers from both family and friends, but so far, none have been compatible or approved for donation.

Though the treatments leave him weak and exhausted, he remains hopeful, buoyed by the unwavering love of his family. Despite the setbacks, Ben tries to maintain a positive outlook and continues to be a source of strength and encouragement to those around him.

His determination to live isn’t just for himself—it’s for his wife, his children, grandchildren, especially his grandson, whom he hopes to see grow up.

Founders of New Movement Launch What They Call the First Real Black Wall Street

"New Platforms Solve the Less-Than-1% Crisis in Black Ownership"

The Black Financial Independence Movement (BFIM) is issuing a national wake-up call — and unveiling the first complete solution to the racial wealth gap ever presented to Black America. For decades, the conversation around inequality has focused on symptoms. Today, BFIM exposes the root cause: Black-founded companies make up less than 1% of the corporations in America’s public and private financial engines — Wall Street and private equity. This is not a small gap. It is a structural exclusion that has quietly erased trillions in potential Black wealth. And for the first time, BFIM is delivering not just the truth — but the tools to fix it.

At the center of this breakthrough is David “The Banker” Parker, a financial strategist who spent years serving America’s wealthiest families and studying how wealth is truly built. His conclusion is simple and devastating: Black entrepreneurs are forming the wrong type of companies. While the rest of America forms investable corporations that can raise capital, build valuation, and create generational wealth, Black entrepreneurs overwhelmingly form LLCs, which cannot issue shares, cannot attract equity investors, and cannot participate in the wealth-building systems that power the U.S. economy. BFIM calls this the “Invisible Financial Trap.”

But BFIM is not just exposing the trap — it is dismantling it. Together with co-founders Adam Myers and Theresa Hill, Parker has built a dual-infrastructure solution designed to permanently change the economic trajectory of Black America.

The Two Pillars of Change

BlackCorporations.Online is a national platform that prepares Black founders to form investable corporations — complete with share structures, compliance, and the PCN (Private Corporate Network) that connects them to capital, advisors, and long-term growth pathways. This is the missing foundation Black entrepreneurs have never been given.

BlackStock.Exchange is the first equity-crowdfunding platform built specifically for Black founders and Black investors. For the first time, everyday African Americans can invest in the businesses they already support — from fashion brands to tech startups to beauty companies — and Black founders can raise capital through equity instead of debt.

Together, these platforms form the first complete ecosystem that allows Black entrepreneurs to build valuation, raise capital, and scale — the same way America’s wealthiest families have done for generations.
