“We got married in the 80s. Times were a little different then. We didn’t have social media. Everyone has an opinion about marriage, even those who aren’t married. There’s a whole mixture of thoughts that has people confused, scared and twisted, and tainted about marriage. We are here to bring some common sense to it all. People who come to our workshops appreciate our realness. We don’t know any other way to be. That’s that Gen X factor,” says Rufus.

The Tripletts are not only best-selling authors, but they are also international speakers and podcast co-hosts. They were honored as Ebony Magazine’s Couple of the Year in 2012, recognized as a social media power couple in 2013, VIP ambassadors Daymond John of FUBU and Shark Tank, TEDx speakers, and marriage lifestyle experts for a host of media outlets, including Dr. Phil, CNN, TMZ, Portia and HuffPost. They have been seen on top podcasts and morning shows with features in Black EnterpriseEssence, and an appearance on the TLC Network.

Incorporating work and travel is something the Triplett’s have done seamlessly. They are requested facilitators for marriage workshops in London, Paris, Bucharest, Romania, and Dubai. Their network and audience transcend race, religion, societal class, and politics. Since publishing their first Surviving Marriage Tips book, the Triplett’s lost their eldest son, and six years later, Rufus lost his dad on the exact same day. Dealing with those challenging odds and set of circumstances, they share several tips for individuals and couples that can help them and their marriages survive the death of a child or a loved one. Working through emotional times in a marriage with additional outside stress with a couple that understands is their sweet spot.

Jenny comments, “A lot of people always ask us why we call it surviving marriage, like marriage has to be something you survive? Well, we can show you a lot of ones that did not. People go through things (i.e., miscarriage, loss of employment, bankruptcy, toxic family, etc.), and it takes work to keep it all together. We’re not just mouthpieces for a podcast, but we actually get into the issues that couples are dealing with in order to get them resolved. I think people like that our conflict resolution comes with humor. We listen, we don’t judge, and we’re lighthearted.”

The Tripletts have four books under the Surviving Marriage umbrella, which include Surviving Marriage in the 21st Century – Getting Back to the Swoon of the HoneymoonSurviving Parenting, and Surviving Marriage in the 21st Century – Send Me That Recipe, 33 Meals Rediscovered and Sprinkled with Love. The recipe book offers comfort, budget-friendly foods that they enjoyed from the early years of their three and a half decades of marriage, and more in-depth marriage tips as a follow-up from their first release. The tips range from correcting your spouse in public, should you or shouldn’t you, to 10 things not to do at a wedding.

During the pandemic, the Triplett’s counseling services surged across four continents as couples found themselves in unsteady marriages. Currently, with gas and food prices skyrocketing and daily emotional global unrest, the Triplett’s have already noticed an increase in queries for speaking, counseling, and workshops. Their surviving marriage platform encompasses premarital counseling and helps engaged couples with a solid start to their journey of matrimony.
