In the ever-expanding world of children’s content, one creator is standing out—not just with beats and rhymes, but with heart. Mr. J, a former health and physical education teacher and lifelong coach, is the face behind Hey! It’s Mr. J — a YouTube channel bringing hip-hop energy, SEL (social-emotional learning), and physical movement to kids across the globe.
With bright visuals, catchy hooks, and empowering messages, Mr. J creates songs that help children process big emotions, build resilience, and believe in themselves. One of his newest releases, “I Have Autism and I Still Shine,” centers the perspective of a child with autism—providing visibility and inclusion during Autism Awareness Month.
“It’s so important that kids see themselves in what they watch,” said Mr. J. “Whether they’re feeling anxious, angry, or just need to move, my songs give them a voice and a way to cope through fun, fitness, and self-expression.”
Mr. J’s work is deeply rooted in both his professional experience and personal mission. As a Black male educator, he brings a unique and needed perspective to the world of early childhood content creation. His videos—ranging from movement songs like Jump Along to
emotion-centered anthems like Talk It Out and I Am Enough — are already gaining attention from parents, teachers, therapists, and caregivers looking for inclusive, engaging resources.
Many educators have noted how his content helps improve listening skills, boost confidence, and promote healthy self-expression in children as young as two years old.
Based in New Jersey and working full-time on his channel, Mr. J is on a mission to bring SEL-based content to classrooms and homes everywhere. With a catalog of original music videos and an ambitious release schedule, he hopes to partner with brands and organizations aligned with children’s wellness and learning.
