KIDZ BIZ BOOK SERIES PLANTS SEED OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN THE NEXT GENERATION

Houston, TX -- Kidz Biz is a children's book series created by Houston-based author and entrepreneur, Gwen Richardson. The objective of the series is to plant the seed of entrepreneurship early and watch it grow in the next generation. The books are designed for ages 5 to 8 and each book is only $12.00. The books make excellent gifts for kids and can be purchased as a bundle for holiday gifting.

The three main characters in the series, Daisy, Robert, and Karim, are known as the Kidz Biz Squad. These three neighborhood kids develop witty business ideas to earn money for fun toys, trips, projects, and prizes.

Each book in the series covers a different business concept or aspect of running a business. Children who read the books will learn the importance of finances, friendship, and fortitude.

Official Statement From Sean 'Diddy' Combs Regarding The Comcast / Byron Allen U.S. Supreme Court Case

NEW YORK, Nov. 21, 2019 -- My name and my network, REVOLT, have been mentioned recently by Comcast in reference to the Comcast/Byron Allen US Supreme Court case as an example of Comcast's inclusive practices with respect to African American owned cable networks. While it is true that we are in business with Comcast, it is not accurate to use my name or my network as an example of inclusion. I do not want my name to be used inaccurately so I must speak my truth.

I also want to make clear that this case is now about much more than cable distribution. It's about the civil rights of millions of African Americans and other minorities.

First, it's important that people really understand what's at stake. In its efforts to get the lawsuit filed by Byron Allen dismissed, Comcast has taken a legal approach that could weaken fundamental civil rights protections. I have a problem with this.

The Civil Rights Act of 1866 section 1981 was designed to ensure Black people are able to do business in this country and not be denied because of race. Comcast is arguing that this law only applies if racial discrimination is the only factor that leads to a refusal to do business, which would be extremely hard to prove.

If they are successful, it will become much harder for any victim of discrimination to seek justice in court. By taking this stance in the Supreme Court, Comcast has put its legal tactics ahead of the rights of millions of Americans to be heard. This is not OK.

"SHOP BLACK WEEK" CAMPAIGN TO BOOST SUPPORT FOR BLACK-OWNED BUSINESSES NOVEMBER 22 TO 29

Nationwide -- As consumers across the U.S. gear up for holiday deals on sales merchandise, this Black Friday, a coalition urges buyers to make it a Shop Black Week. More than 100 groups have designated November 22 to 29 as Shop Black Week, a time of supporting Black-owned businesses by purchasing products, goods, or services from Black entrepreneurs.

The Shop Black Week campaign is a nationwide campaign that simply asks every American to support Black-owned businesses in November. Participating entities include organizations, Online-social groups and publications that have made the commitment to help spread the word with their social media accounts.

With the support of these entities and as new supporters join in, it is projected that this nationwide campaign could be the most successful economic movement of all time and be able to profoundly help thousands of Black-owned businesses in the process. The last big movement for Black people was the Million Man March, but organizers feel that the time has come for another big movement.

Roland Martin Gets The Scoop On Today's Legal Outcome Between Byron Allen And Comcast At The Supreme Court

Roland Martin, the highly regarded news commentator, journalist, and host of one of the most popular Black daily news shows online engaged in a spirited interview with media mogul Byron Allen.  Byron Allen is one of the largest Black media owners in the US purportedly worth $400 million dollars and many consider him well on his way to being a billionaire with his growing empire of media assets like the Weather Channel.

The Interview streamed yesterday, November, 13th, 2019 and is galvanizing myriad sectors of the Black community like the NAACP, Urban League, members of the CBC, ADOS, FBA, and many others to social action because "Comcast is looking to eviscerate Civil Rights Laws of 1866" according to Byron Allen.

Congressmen Bobby Rush called for the break up of Comcast.  Also other pro-black groups like ADOS, FBA, and social media thought leaders like Dr. Boyce Watkins and Dr. Shonna Etienne, encouraged their followers to boycott or pass on seeing the new movie Harriet because it was a Comcast production (among other issues).

FORMER VICTIM OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE FOR 17 YEARS NOW EMPOWERS OTHER WOMEN THROUGH HER ORGANIZATION

Nationwide -- T'sharin Moncrief, a domestic violence survivor and advocate whose abuse started at the young age of 16-years old, has launched an organization called Women of Refined Gold, Inc. (WORG). Based in Montgomery, Alabama, the organization provides local resources, counseling services, classes, peer support, accompaniment and referrals for temporary shelter, food, and legal help.

T'sharin was just a teenager when her boyfriend began abusing her, and the physical and verbal abuse continued for 17 years.

After finally finding the courage to leave with her 3 daughters, she made it her mission to help other women do the same and to provide a safe haven for them to retreat to.

Domestic violence is one of those "things" that is so rarely discussed and often overlooked as not being a priority issue. But every 9 seconds, a woman is beaten or assaulted in the U.S alone, and the expenses accumulated from domestic violence cases amount to more than $37 billion a year. "I'd say it's a pretty severe and priority issue," says T'sharin.

Saw Harriet last night. In the end, I found myself trying to remember the last time I watched something about slavery that left me feeling proud. Most recently, there was the TV Show "Underground" and now Harriet.

I found this movie empowering. Focused on the story of a woman who early on couldn't read or use a gun, and then literally, by the grace of God, escapes slavery - alone - and gains the courage to return to the South, multiple times, to save her family and hundreds of other slaves. I saw the clear goal of Harriet in showing the resilient strength of our people, especially sistas, and the cunning strategic tactics our ancestors used to survive and escape bondage. I felt relieved seeing this moment in our history documented cinematically for the world to see.

Now...
There are historical inaccuracies. Remember: It's Hollywood. "Based on a true story" means that there will be creative license taken. This is not a documentary.

SOME of what is in this film is true. The fiction comes with made-up characters that, according to the social media historians, did not exist. Of course, I can't say this for sure. I'd have to talk to director Kasi Lemmons to be precise.

The Movie Harriet Get's Railroaded On Issues Having Nothing To Do With The Portrayal Of This Legendary Icon Of The Underground Railroad

Despite the furor and controversy I am supporting the film "Harriet."  The film directed by Kasi Lemmons and starring Cynthia Erivo as Tubman, Leslie Odom Jr., and Janelle Monáe, is based on the legendary, iconic anti-slavery and Underground Railroad conductor Harriet Tubman.  Harriet Tubman, was a 5ft Moses like real life superhero who is glossed over in history and the kind of person I'd like to see portrayed in film and TV more often.  So why are Blacks boycotting the movie?

I've listened to ADOS leaders, woke folks, and others who have interesting commentary on why we should boycott the movie.  Some of this controversy has interesting merit however, a lot of the complaints on Harriet are reaching. But what are the criticisms for boycotting the movie?

In short the major complaints about the movie are:

• The actress Cynthia Erivo, is British, of Nigerian descent - not ADOS (American Descendents Of Slaves).
• The actress Cynthia Erivo made a statement some people considered insulting to Black Americans about her learning ghetto dialects or something.
• The movie suggested a loving interest by the white slaver who is also portrayed as a savior in the movie.
• They don't like the Black bounty hunter - he's a stereotype of hateful Black men.
• Comcast which owns the film is attacking some Civil Rights Laws with Trumps DOJ.  In my opinion some of these are valid concerns but others are reaching.  Let's unwrap some of these critiques...

SAMUEL LAWRENCE CRAWFORD, A BLACK U.S. ARMY PRIVATE WHO SERVED IN THE KOREAN WAR, POSTHUMOUSLY HONORED

Wilmington, DE -- United States Army Private First Class Samuel Lawrence Crawford was recently recognized for his service as a MIA Korean War Veteran during a ceremony and dedication of a permanent memorial in his honor. He was also posthumously awarded a State of Delaware high school diploma. His sister and only sibling, Mrs. Rosa Lee Crawford Guy, represented him.

Crawford was born on October 21, 1932 and was a 17-year old residing in Wilmington, Delaware at the time he entered the Army (previously resided in Southbridge). He attended Ezion Fair Baptist Church, and enlisted in the Army in 1950 after completing his junior year in the Wilmington School District.

PFC Crawford entered the United States Army from Wilmington, Delaware and served in Company L, 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. His occupation or specialty was Light Weapons Infantryman. He was reported missing in action on November 27, 1950, though specific details are unknown, and it is not clear which group from Company L he was with at the time of his loss.

He was never reported as a prisoner of war, and attempts to locate or recover his remains have been unsuccessful. He is a Purple Heart recipient.
