A Crisis In America; How Did We Get Here?

By JV Howard

African-Americans live, to a certain degree, in a constant crisis management mode
and have been for some time. Crisis defined; a condition of instability or danger, as in social, economic, political, or international affairs, leading to a decisive change...
It produces a dramatic emotional or circumstantial upheaval in personal life. But how did we get here?

In answering the question how did we get here - in a crisis mode - take a look at
present day realities that point to social, economic, health, and political quandaries
that have severely watered down the promise of this countries democratic process.
The promise of inclusion has morphed into a promise of preference and privilege; the
preference to ignore the basic human rights and dignity of all it's citizens and the privilege of immunity and exemption.

A quick inventory of current events highlight headlines that reads ‘Worst Week in
America’ as a major social crisis with guns and mass killings continue unabated, a economic crisis governed by late night tweets, a self inflicted opioid health crisis, and a political crisis where leadership is more bot than human. A bot is a device or piece of software that can execute commands, reply to tweets, or perform routine tasks like order from McDonalds.

Arlington, TX --  BPolished Beauty Supply, an Arlington, Texas-based beauty supplies platform and brick-and-mortar-shop that covers everything from conditioner and shampoo to protective style items such as wigs, crochet hair, and hair braids, continues to redefine industry standards as a leading Black-owned business today.

"Black women are the largest consumer of beauty products and dominate the industry in regards to dollars being spent. However, we have the least amount of ownership.

In addition for years the market has been flooded with products that have not been suitable for women of color," says Frankesha. "We deserve to have ownership in this industry and access to that same quality of beauty products, which is why I am so excited to be offering the best products right through my new beauty supply store and accompanying platform."

H.R. 40 - THE STUDY OF REPARATIONS: HOW AMERICA REMEMBERS AND DEFINES AFRICAN-AMERICAN ENSLAVEMENT?

By Tolson Banner

Nationwide -- House Resolution Bill 40, (named for the 40 acres and a mule black people never got) introduced by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, if passed, establishes the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-Americans to examine slavery (enslavement) and discrimination in the colonies and the United States from 1619 to the present and recommend appropriate remedies.

Former Congressman John Conyers had introduced a similar bill every year for over 30 years - and it laid dormant in the hallowed halls of Congress because America refused to remember she suffers from long-term amnesia when it comes to her involvement in the Christian/Atlantic enslavement trade.

Congresswoman Jackson timed her announcement to coincide with the celebration of Juneteenth. I guess this was an attempt to use historical facts to help America with her loss of memory and to help bring her up-to-date on the horrors of her past and present state of affairs when it comes to paying a debt long overdue:

REPARATION (repe'raSHen) - "work done" payments to enslaved African-Americans who were forced to work as free labor solely for converting the American economy into a SUPER ECONOMIC POWERHOUSE thus creating THE AMERICAN DREAM out of an AMERICAN NGHTMARE; to indemnify African-Americans who gave rise to America's economic system - CAPITALISM - with the toil of their enslaved labor; with the sacrifice of their human bodies traded as capital; and with their knowledge of agriculture to work the land - making COTTON KING!; to make a people whole again as a result of the brutal, inhumane, and monstrous treatment by people of European (now Americans) descent inclusive of but not limited to: 250 years of enslavement; 90 years of Jim Crow; 60 years of separate but equal; 35 years of state-sanctioned redlining; restitution for using African-Americans as human raw material for the prison/military/industrial complex; recompense for psychological and physical harassment, as well as, unarmed killings by police for walking, running, driving, swimming, biking, drinking coffee, gardening, looking suspicious, and just breathing air. --
