ABOUT: The event will be taking place within BAND's exhibition Launch & Grow, a fundraising exhibition to support BAND's capital campaign to complete our renovations at 19 Brock Ave, a home for Black art in Toronto.
Black Artists’ Networks in Dialogue (BAND) Gallery is a Toronto-based registered charity. Founded in 2010, by Karen Carter, Director, Museums and Heritage Services at City of Toronto, Dr. Julie Crooks, Curator, Arts of Global Africa and the Diaspora at the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario), Maxine Bailey, Executive Director of the CFC (Canadian Film Center) and Karen Tyrell, Communication Specialist-Film & Television. BAND is committed to supporting, documenting, and exhibiting the contributions of Black artists from Canada and beyond. Chaz will also attend the Toronto International Film Festival presenting the “Ebert Director’ Award with Cameron Bailey (Chief Executive Officer of TIFF and the Toronto International Film Festival) to Academy Award–winning Mexican-born filmmaker Guillermo del Toro at the annual Tribute Awards Gala.
Later this year Ebert will announce The inaugural “FECK” Awards and the submission details. The “FECK" Awards are inspired by the values of Forgiveness, Empathy, Compassion, and Kindness (FECK). The call for submissions is for individuals that embody these principles in their lives. Submissions will be open to both US & Canadian residents. The “FECK” Awards will take place April 4, 2026, in Chicago.

While there are brilliant persons on the Autism Spectrum celebrated today, very little media stories focus on people, especially women of color. Our co-publisher's new bio-pic "nZinga's Spectrum In 3D," is a moving and inspirational documentary on how a young Black woman RISES to overcome her challenges.
