The film won “Best Documentary Feature” at the Denton Black Film Festival, which garnered for Mack the festival’s $20,000 Camera Package Award.

Atlanta-based voice actors Carey Conley and Tangi Greene contributed their talents to the film. He has provided voice work for Comcast, KFC, Chrysler, Michigan State University, and Dr. Myles Munroe.

Director Bayer Mack is best known as the founder of the independent record label Block Starz Music and its subsidiary Block Starz Music Television, which produced a critically- acclaimed 2014 documentary on Oscar Micheaux, "The Czar of Black Hollywood." The book that inspired the film, “Black History 1619-2019: An Illustrated and Documented African-American History,” is a production of the Yocum African American History Association (YAAHA), which is a national non-profit IRS Section 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to providing free educational resources to the public about 400 years of African American history.
