BLACK COUPLE KNOWN FOR THEIR GULLAH GEECHEE TREATS DEBUTS NEW ONLINE STORE FEATURING HISTORIC CHARLESTON CHEWS

Charleston, SC -- Michael & Latanya Allen, the founders and owners of Tastee Treats, have launched an online store allowing them to sell their historic Charleston Chews, jams, and jellies to customers nationally. The entrepreneurial couple originally started out selling their products at local festivals, county fairs, and farmers markets across the low country of South Carolina.

“This is unbelievable to us,” states Latanya as she highlights how their business started. “It seems like only yesterday we came up with the idea of selling our Charleston Chews, jams, and jellies to the public.” She credits the ladies in her life that influenced her with cooking, who are her mother Frances, and her Grandmother, Elizabeth. These two ladies taught her the fundaments of preparing historic Gullah cuisine.

FIRST BLACK-OWNED COOKING NETWORK LAUNCHED BY CHEFS, COOKS, AND LIFESTYLE ENTHUSIASTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Los Angeles, CA -- Tasteavision Media Inc, a Los Angeles-based media company, has launched Taste On T.V. as a 24-hour all cooking and lifestyle channel dedicated to highlighting the voices, culture, and food of African-Americans and people of color in an honest and uncompromised manner.

The network is the brainchild of Tasteavsion Media’s founder and Taste On T.V. President Terance Quilens Sr.

Mr. Quilens, a foodie himself, has always enjoyed watching food-themed entertainment. As an avid viewer of mainstream cooking shows, he often noticed that the full culinary journey of the African-American community was often under-represented or not represented at all. After years of discontent, he decided to work on a method for delivering the most honest portrait of the Black culinary experience that he could.

NEW DATING PLATFORM FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN SPORTS FANS TO LAUNCH

Louisville, KY African-American entrepreneur Walter Davis recognized a need in the online dating industry for sports fans after frequenting his favorite sports bar and realizing how many single African American patrons were showing up and watching sports alone. It was then that his vision for Score Bigger Dating was born.

Davis’ goal for African-American sports fans is for them to find the love of their lives through their love of sports. "It’s not about how many dating sites you may be affiliated with, it’s about the one site that you’re the most compatible with," said Davis. "At Score Bigger Dating, you’re more than just a score.”

Meeting a potential mate can be a difficult process. At ScoreBiggerDating, members break the ice by first meeting online and then by following up with a meeting at a sports venue or event when they are ready.

FOUNDER OF BLACK-OWNED FINANCIAL SERVICES FIRM EXPANDS BEYOND CREDIT REPAIR TO OFFER LOANS, TAX PREPARATION SERVICES

Louisville, KY -- Charcora Palmer, founder and owner of Total P.O.W.E.R. Financial Services, is expanding her services beyond credit repair to become a one-stop-shop, offering loans from $10,000 to $400,000 and tax preparation to individuals and businesses.

"TRUTH BE TOLD: THE POLICIES THAT IMPACTED BLACK LIVES" NEW EXHIBITION NOW OPEN AT MUHAMMAD ALI CENTER

Louisville, KY - As the call for racial justice and equality in America is louder now than ever before, the Muhammad Ali Center has created an exhibition to educate and help others learn from the country’s past in order to foster a better future. Truth Be Told: The Policies that Impacted Black Lives is an exploration of those policies that are linked to systematic racism in America, from the early 1600s, up to present day.

Truth Be Told offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the history of Black people in our country that is often left out of, misinterpreted, or even falsified in our history books. It is critical that the facts of our collective American history be told so that the negative outcomes that these policies produced can be understood, recognized, and amended.

2020 CONFERENCE FOR BLACK WRITERS AND ENTREPRENEURS TO CONVENE IN OCTOBER DESPITE PANDEMIC

Winston-Salem, NC --  Black Writers on Tour and the Southern California Black Business and Tech Expo will partner this year to produce a powerful one-day virtual event. Produced by Dr. Rosie Milligan, the event will be held online on Saturday, October 10, 2020, from 10am to 4pm via a platform called Hopin. Both authors and entrepreneurs are invited to participate in a conference that will be more dynamic than ever with seminars, workshops, and exhibits.

The event's theme for 2020 is “Literacy is Everybody’s Business—Literacy + Technology Changes Lives,” and participants will learn how to intertwine tech and literacy in the 21st century.
