"If it ain’t one thing, its another!!" That's...

Why You Should Look^UP!

As we approach the end of another week, another month, and yet another year - and what a year it has been - we face with bewilderment a sobering reality - "if it ain't one thing it's another.” From nation states like Russia and China with their aberrant and belligerent disposition, from inanimate entities like AI (artificial intelligence) and viruses Covid 19, Delta, and the mutant Omicron variant, to political entities with abysmal lack of empathy toward mankind to turning our back on “ Mother Nature.”  If it wasn't Alcee Hastings it was Cecily time.

If it wasn't bell hooks, it was Desmond Tutu, if it wasn't John Thompson, it was Colin Powell, if it wasn't DMX, it was Biz Markie. If it wasn't the Insurrection at the Capitol, it was a school shooting in Michigan.

If it wasn't the near execution of Julius Jones, it was the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse. If it wasn't an attempt to restrict voting, it was an attempt to overturn Roe versus Wade.  If it wasn't Andrew Cuomo, it was Chris Cuomo. If it ain't privacy violations in Facebook, it's Metaverse to make matters worse... enough already!

Maybe not; if it ain't "Too Sir with Love," it ain't Sydney Poitier.

In an effort toward summation of a year gone by let’s get real about why the pendulum swings (it's all good on one end and it doesn’t look good on the other end) the way it does and confront the reality in plain sight that myopia (nearsightedness) can’t justify and hyperopia (farsightedness) can’t clarify.

Both address the physical eye but the reality I’m referring to speak to the mind, emotion, and spiritual eye. Ophthalmology can address the limitation of the physical eye and a psycho therapist can speak to mental and emotional health while saving your spiritual issues for that introspective look up.

Editor's Note: Many people are talking about the controversial and provocative flim: "Don't Look Up," and how it relates to the impact of disinformation on our society and other salient issues.  After seeing the movie you'll realize "Why You Should Look^UP!"  You can see the trailer below...

SURVIVING CHAOS
AUTHOR TELLS HIS STORY ABOUT GROWING IN EXTREME POVERTY WITH A SCHIZOPHRENIC MOM

Harold Phifer has announced the publication of his second book, a collection of autobiographical short stories exploring his sad and often appalling upbringing in Columbus, Mississippi.  Kept secret for more than 50 years, Phifer’s childhood was largely forgotten until an explosion during a job in Afghanistan forced him to take some time off to recover in a paradise beach resort in Thailand.

While there, he met an unusual but compassionate stranger who pulled him into a long discussion about his experiences growing up. Hours later, Phifer finally found a measure of peace from the ghosts of his past and began planning out the stories that would later appear in Surviving Chaos. The book is available for purchase via AmazonBarnes & Noble, and Audible.  For More Info Click Here

Currently, there are storms in every facet of life.  Our first reaction of the norm “storm” is to think of weather and rightly so however, the foremost storm on everyone’s radar involve epidemiology and Covid-19, Delta, and its latest mutation Omicron. This once in a century virus has plunged the world into a depressed state.

Pummeled by various circumstances we are headed into a second year where we find ourselves in the same place at the same time for the same reason. In theater you are likely to get the second iteration when the numbers of viewers spike for a fictional story, for example, Star Wars 2 or Die Hard 2.

Did we not see Pandemic 2 coming? If it ain't Delta's diabolical nature, it's Omnicron's omnipresent disposition, if it ain't get vaccinated, it's get the booster. If it ain't another FDA and big pharma game, it's Fauci to blame.

As the world seems to spin off it's axis the planet is revolting with tornadoes at night - out of season - and wildfires in Colorado in January. If it ain't the planets ills then it's Mars that thrills. Many around the globe meander  - disparage - with their heads down but by all means "Don't look Up."

If you can't handle the truth, can you handle the Big Lie?

Truth be told it's Mother Nature's essence to wreak havoc to recalibrate. Consider it her Cntl- Alt- Delete key. As man loses Cntl and seeks Alt-ernatives she scornfully counters by deleting via storms, tsunamis, wildfires, ice melts, droughts, floods, tornadoes at nights, heatwave during the day, habitat extinction, resource depletion, and sea life extermination. It's tantamount to Mother Nature saying" go get me a switch" so she can whip your a$$.

The Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, and the Endangered Species Act are all too little too late... As the air we breathe is Omnicron to seize,  it's chemicals and plastics in water we squeeze, leaving the animal kingdom with dis-ease.

As you refresh your calendar various dates loom. If ain't January 6, it's Super (spreader) Bowl Sunday. It's is egregious to ignore the 3.3 million dead and not take responsibility for these massive events - at the expense of infections and lives lost. We can "tank" to win games next year but not get vaccinated and boosters to live - to - next year. It's always something - shortsighted.

If it ain't pseudo critical race theory, it's the legitimate "1619 Project," if it ain't augmenting our libraries inventory, it's removing books for censure. A despicable act highlighting  our faltering humanity. More reason to look up.

By all accounts it is literally one thing or another. If it ain't J&J effectiveness, it's the FDA persuasiveness, if it ain't Manchin fraudulent representation, it's Biden consternation, if it ain't Tesla crashing, it's satellites blowing up, if it ain't homelessness on our streets, it's trash in outer space.

Humanity's end game appear closer than you think. The ghost lurks down deep - in our cells. Alert; we really need to look up!  A simple mantra to remember...

"If you can look up you can get up"... And we need too!

Overwhelmed and overpowered - the vicissitudes of daily life is heavy and persistent mandating a search for a work around. Admitting  "it is what it is; which is just another way of saying "if it ain't one thing it's another" leave us looking up more and more.

It's never ending the woes we face, the reparation required, and the reconciliation necessary to turn things around.  If it ain’t let's save our democracy, it's Let's Go Brandon.

If it ain’t all we’ve been through in 2021, it’s the Harder they Fall in 2022.

ARMY CHAPLAIN DR. JAMES DARREN KEY SHARES A MESSAGE OF HOPE, FAITH AND MORE

Author and U.S. Army chaplain James Darren Key highlights 40 lessons and stories about race, love, honor, and faith to inspire people during changing times in his new memoir A Long Way from Crenshaw: Lessons and Stories about Race, Love, Honor, and Faith for These Changing Times (published by WestBow Press).

Through this study, he hopes to help people:

• recognize failures and successes along their journey;
• approach race and diversity with sensitivity and courage;
• heal from an unhealthy relationship before starting a new one;
• face trials and controversy with unshakable faith.
