“Brown Memorial Baptist Church, Lifetime Member And A Charter Member of The East Brooklyn Lioness Club: The Central Brooklyn Lions Club, Inc., New York, Ermine Leola Singleton Myers Is Gone But Not Forgotten.”

My Sister, The Family Journal, USA & Overseas, Vol. 1, Issue 14, May 2005 by Dr. Charles L. Singleton

Yes, from New York City to Atlanta, GA, Ermine’s “Famous Okra and Rice Recipes,” and cooking skills, were both renowned and well-celebrated by various church groups, social gatherings, special events, partygoers, and family members. Her meals over the many years have been so fulfilling, tasty, and delicious. During the Singleton’s Annual Christmas Eve Dinners, she appetizingly honored us with carte du jour shrimps, delicious crab Legs, succulent oysters, scrumptious fish, and Ermine’s delights.

And for many years, Ermine Myers, Culinary Head Chef, E&E Catering Company, New York, entertained, fed and satisfied thousands of appetites; including that of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (1918-2013), former First State President of South Africa, 1994-1999. In 2003, Decatur, GA, Ermine and Marion traveled all the way from Brooklyn, New York, to prepare and serve a five-star graduation dinner for their nephew, Chase Singleton.

Four years later, she also prepared a delicious menu and successfully directed an incredibly talented staff of event professionals for Magic Johnson’s banquet. The 800 guests enjoyed the food and the timely message about HIV and prevention.

On April 27, 2007, at Brown Memorial Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY, Earvin “Magic” Johnson discussed the increasing problem of HIV/AIDS. Johnson said, “I believe if we stand together, we can make a difference.” Ermine’s culinary feasts were also shared with HBCU Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) Scholar-Athlete, author and co-founder, Argle B. Whitfield, ’65, the Trey Whitfield Foundation, Inc., Brooklyn, New York. Argle B. Whitfield successfully wrote and published the first 500-page book ever: “A Pictorial History of Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Professionals from 1950-1984."

Thus, Ermine and her husband Marion Myers shared an everlasting and sustaining desire to help others, while establishing a respectful trademark for the Myers family and their ownership of property. They were remarkably successful in refurbishing and restoring various real-estate properties in Maryland and South Carolina.

Ermine and Marion Myers were prime examples of self-starters in life. Both were outstanding faithful parents, grandparents, citizens, and property owners. Once again, congratulations to Ermine Singleton Myers and Marion Myers. --- The Family Journal, Vol. 1, Issue 14, May 2005.
