BLACK-OWNED E-COMMERCE MARKETPLACE BLUEJESTIC LAUNCHES TO HELP BUSINESSES RECOVER FROM COVID-19 ECONOMIC STRESS

Orlando, FL --  There’s no shortage of businesses looking for new ways to get the word out to potential customers and help them get back on track after the disruptions brought by the coronavirus. Bluejestic.com is stepping up to help fill this need. Bluejestic is a start-up Black-owned e-commerce marketplace designed to provide small and mid-sized businesses in the U.S and the Caribbean with the opportunity to showcase their unique retail offerings to potentially millions of shoppers recently announced its launch, to high expectations.

"What we are doing is leveraging technology to create economic growth for businesses in the U.S as well as the Caribbean who are in a more dire need for a centralized marketplace," commented Jude Plaisir, Founder of Bluejestic. "This is very much a mission-driven effort."

He also says the timing of the launch is also important, "COVID-19 has shown the disparity Caribbean businesses are under by not having the tools to effectively sell online. Bluejestic wants to level the playing field."

Plaisir adds that COVID-19 makes now the best time for businesses to get started with Bluejestic.com. "We are currently offering 6 months free, with zero commission fees for businesses who see the benefits of joining our marketplace."

Bluejestic offers unlimited product listings, inventory management, orders, and shipping management for a low 10% commission fee when an item is sold. Under Bluejestic's model, each seller can manage his or her own store.

Plaisir says the idea originated from his own personal life, "I'm from the Caribbean. As I was traveling throughout the region, I saw the need to have an open marketplace like Amazon. This would specifically address some of the challenges people in the Caribbean face, as well as other minority-owned retailers in the U.S in the e-commerce world."

He says there are many factors that drive customers back to a site, "One of the many things I often see missed is product image quality. Bluejestic embodies the idea of providing a great customer experience. We emphasized to our sellers the importance of a well-portrayed product with high-quality photos."

Plaisir says the challenges lie in the lack of effective methods to target the right audience, "There was nothing that really spoke to the Caribbean or Black-owned business owners or shoppers trying to find our products. We are working hard to change that."

Plaisir, who has over 20 years as an information technology professional, built and designed most of the infrastructure for Bluejestic.com. He says it’s important to offer a technological pathway to small business owners who would otherwise face a roadblock in regard to design and other marketing-related challenges.

Mari Espinal, Co-Founder of Bluejestic, says the platform is extremely user-friendly, "Sellers can upload products, manage inventory and other aspects of their business very easily."

Espinal envisions expansion and specialization, "We're planning on location-specific sub-domains featuring sellers from Jamaica, The Bahamas, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, and Guyana," she remarked.

Espinal continued, "This is a win-win situation because we're promoting sellers' products across a broad spectrum, not only in their own hometown but also nationally and internationally."
