FOUNDER OF BLACK-OWNED ACCOUNTING FIRM SAYS HIS CLIENTS ARE ALREADY GETTING STIMULUS CHECKS

Nationwide -- In March 2020, the U.S. government announced that trillions of dollars would be made available to organizations, small businesses, and individuals in an effort to stimulate the economy. As of Monday, April 6, many small businesses are already starting to see the reality of that initiative.

Randy Hughes, founder and CEO of Counting Pennies, LLC, says that several of his small business clients are already seeing loan money come in from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). The PPP is part of the third phase of a 3 phase progress the government wrote into law in March. Under the program, business that have employees are encouraged to keep those employees on payroll and hire back any that they had to layoff.

"The Payment Protection Program is a wonderful opportunity for small businesses to keep their doors open, continue serving their communities, while at the same time retaining their employees," Hughes says.  The program is a loan that is based on 2.5 times the average monthly payroll of the business. Once received, the funds can be used to cover payroll for employees, as well as other expenses, such as utilities, mortgage interest, and lease payments.

BLACK COUPLE'S PATENTED MOBILE APP ALLOWS COURTS TO ISSUE MARRIAGE LICENSES ELECTRONICALLY

Nationwide -- JC and Randy Banks, a married entrepreneurial couple from Atlanta, are the founders of WebWed Mobile - a patented app with cyber jurisdiction that allows various courts across the country to issue marriage licenses electronically. Their technology allows people to get a marriage license, and legally get married in the same day - without having to leave home!

It's a perfect and very useful concept during a time of national quarantine when most courts are closed, and most governors have issued state-wide stay-at-home orders. Many couples have had to postpone and even cancel their upcoming weddings. But thanks to JC and Randy, WebWed Mobile is literally "saving the day" and "saving love" by bringing those dreams to virtual reality - even including family and friends in the ceremony.

Sophie Feral, a customer who used the app to get married on April 1st shared, "What we thought would be a short, administrative process, turned into an unexpectedly special and touching moment for my husband and me. I'm so grateful to JC and the WebWed Mobile team who made our moment special."

NEW PODCAST LAUNCHED FOR AND ABOUT AFRICAN AMERICAN SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS

Nationwide -- Kimberly Holmes, founder of Black America Cares, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to serving individuals and families that are less fortunate, has launched The Nonprofit Showcase Podcast - which provides a platform for African American social entrepreneurs all over the country.  When Kimberly first launched her nonprofit, she was often contacted by people asking about services that she did not provide.

However, instead of turning people away, Holmes would help them look for other programs that could help. As a result, she discovered that there are hundreds of nonprofits out there that offer different types of assistance that many people need.

She recalls, "I was shocked to find out about so many organizations that offered services like free furniture, baby diapers, formula and car seats, assistance for seniors, help with rent, youth in foster care, and more. I figured if I wasn't aware of these organizations, I knew other people weren't aware either, so I needed to find a way to get this information out there."

After grossing over $100K in 2019 while simultaneously working as a full-time single mom, she is now celebrating having her products sold by Walmart - the world's largest retailer.

The timing is perfect because American families are currently quarantined at their homes. Many are looking for fun activities to do, but they can easily place an order online and have fun expressing themselves through their hair. The hair color is safe for both children and adults, and is even popular with a lot of men.

A humble beginning
Electra started her company because, like so many other women, she was looking for an alternative to the rinses that weren't giving her the vibrant popping color that she so badly. She also wanted to create a product without the harmful chemicals, and avoid the process of using a developer to bleach her hair.

BLACK ENTREPRENEUR DEVELOPS NEW 911 ALERT APP THAT HELPS FAMILY AND FRIENDS STAY IN TOUCH

Nationwide (BlackNews.com) -- Steven VanDyke, an entrepreneur from Atlanta, has developed a new app called 911 Alert that connects families together when an emergency occurs. Once downloaded, the app will automatically send a text message to up to ten contacts of your choice if ever you were to dial 911 to report an emergency.

Most people dial emergency services before calling their loved ones, and so the 911 Alert app bridges that gap by alerting their family and friends of their distress.  Steven, who is also the CEO of Fight...Win...Survive, says that not only does his app notify the caller's contacts that they have dialed emergency services, but the text message they receive also contains the caller's location at the exact time that the call was made.

This can prove invaluable in emergencies when the caller is under threat from another party.
The 911 Alert app provides instant relief and satisfaction to both callers and their loved ones, a benefit that a direct 911 call does not offer. That's because emergency services have to ask the caller to tell them their location.
