Does Addressing The Racial Wealth Gap Demand A HIGHER Consciousness Of Woke Financial Literacy?
For instance the following are some stereotypical tropes perpetuated by Black conservatives or financial coaches about the lack of Black financial success:
- Blacks can't achieve financial literacy because we're trying to achieve acceptance with consumerism.
- Blacks don't achieve wealth because we don't understand investments and buy real estate.
- Blacks aren't knowledgeable or disciplined in terms of credit.
It should be obvious individuals can't beat systems by themselves so financial literacy should evolve beyond just having insights on getting a mortgage, Debt to Income (DTI) ratios, and investing in stocks and bonds. Financial literacy for Blacks should also extend to new technical tools, political, social, and economic advocacy to gain more economic empowerment and collective wealth creation. Let's review a small synopsis of systemic racism in the past and in more present times that contributes to the lack of Black wealth. Let's touch on some solutions beyond the typical ones floated to develop more Black wealth...

Fastest Growing Black-Owned Community of Mental Health Professionals
Clinicians of Color is a community of mental health professionals whose mission is to connect BIPOC mental health communities to services. Clinicians of Color was founded by Lisa Savage, LCSW, and Kim L. Knight five years ago. These two mental health professionals met on Facebook and immediately clicked. They realized that Black and Brown therapists were doing amazing things but often overlooked. So, Lisa and Kim decided to create a platform to elevate Black and Brown therapists and provide them with support, training, and a welcoming community.
Since its inception, Clinicians of Color has increased to a community of 20k members. They believe strongly in the power of community and engage in ongoing activities to cultivate the community. After the killing of George Floyd, it became amply evident that the Black communities needed mental health services but accessing them was challenging. Many in these communities were unaware of the resources and sought to connect with therapists who represented their race and understood their cultural nuances. Clinicians of Color heard the call and decided to create a mental health directory to help connect communities to therapists who look like them. Their objective was to make it easier for Black and Brown people to find a therapist. The directory has therapists representing almost every state with various specialties. To learn more about the directory, visit CliniciansofColor.org
Book, Black Man Stopped British From Invading U.S. Capitol
North Carolina-based writer Gary V. Brill is very pleased to announce the release of the second volume of his critically acclaimed historical fiction series JOURNEY: The Story of an American Family.
This chapter in the struggle begins in 1814 as James Woodman, a freeborn young Black man, fights in the District Militia to repel the invading British who aim to burn the Capitol. Even though he personally risked all to save our Founding Documents, he knew the promises they made were not always kept to people who looked like him.
After the British defeat, he decides it’s time to start a family, so he buys the freedom of Abigail from her “master”, Francis Scott Key, a neighbor who also served in the District Militia. He and Abigail, with the help of Luke, a young runaway James had secretly moved to the farm his father bought after his service in the Revolution, begin to build a home and a life together.

Althea Gibson Autobiography “I Always Wanted to Be Somebody” Re-Released
ALTHEA GIBSON AUTOBIOGRAPHY “I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE SOMEBODY” RE-RELEASED
I Always Wanted To Be Somebody, the autobiography of tennis legend Althea Gibson, has been re-released by New Chapter Press.
Originally published in 1960, the book had fallen out of circulation and was only available for exorbitant prices by book resellers. However, New Chapter Press, a leading publisher of tennis books, worked with the Althea Gibson family, estate, and the newly formed Althea Gibson Community Tennis Association to republish the book and make it available for the masses at a reasonable $19.95 price ($9.95 via Amazon Kindle).
A portion of sales for the book will benefit the Althea Gibson Community Tennis Association.
I Always Wanted To Be Somebody is the intimate and candid story of a girl who grew up in the asphalt environs of Harlem, skipping school, drinking hard liquor, stealing, and fist-fighting, but went on to break the color barrier in tennis and achieve the pinnacle of the sport by winning Wimbledon and the U.S. Championships and becoming an inspiration for many future champions.

Timothy Griggs, a Black real estate investor and mortgage broker is extremely concerned about Blacks and other financially marginalized people getting access to wealth building knowledge and systems. He's been inspired to help people have technical access to manage their credit and finances.
Griggs, an African American, is a pioneer among a growing number of techno-preneurs looking to harness the communication prowess of digital media and platforms to help put Blacks and wealth seekers on the road to affluence. He has developed The Good Stewart (TGS) financial system to help those seeking more control and also to understand the ways to improve their credit score and overall wealth.

Learn How Timothy Griggs Developed The TGS App To Demystify And Manage Your Credit Score
Griggs is the Founder of The Good Steward, financial system (TGS), a mobile app that helps subscribers keep on top of their financial affairs. He is a mortgage broker with over 20 years experience and real estate investor. And his tech innovation is a timely tool for those looking to drive insightfully on the road to financial success.
Griggs often alludes to the fact that whether you are looking to buy your 1st home or rental properties you have to watch your debt-to-income ratio (DTI). Of course developing a good debt-to-income ratio is essential to utilizing a viable credit score and therefore geared towards buttressing financial success for most of us in the process.
