BLACK AUTHORS FESTIVAL
SAG HARBOR, NY The Black Authors Festival Fundraiser returns bigger and bolder for its Third Annual Celebration, a powerful day of literary excellence, cultural pride, and civic engagement, held on the first Saturday of August in beautiful Sag Harbor, New York. This year’s theme, “The Power of Literacy,” reinforces the Festival’s ongoing mission to raise funds and awareness, inspire action, and champion youth development and literacy equity.

Festival proudly honors some of the nation’s most influential voices,
including: Sunny Hostin; Don Lemon; Marc H. Morial; Alton Fitzgerald
White; Harriette Cole; Cheryl Wills; Pamela McBride; Attika J. Torrence;
and Youth Author Honoree: Amaryllis Greene
The day will be hosted by multi-Emmy Award-winning journalist and PIX11 Anchor Arrianee LeBeau, with music curated by NYC’s own DJ Jon Quick, known as the Resident Superhero of the city’s soundscape.

Alexis Donald, MD, a trailblazing African American medical doctor and advocate for empowering young minds, is thrilled to announce the release of her highly anticipated children’s book, Mommy I Want to be a Doctor. Based on her own remarkable journey, this captivating story encourages children to dream big, believe in themselves, and fearlessly pursue their aspirations.
As the first medical doctor in her family, Dr. Alexis has always been driven by a passion for medicine and a desire to make a difference in the world. Her inspiring tale begins with her childhood dreams and takes readers on a heartfelt journey of determination, resilience, and triumph.

The Festival highlights include: Meet the Author book signings; A dynamic Women’s Panel moderated by Rochell Sleets, Editor and Chief Content Officer of Newsday; powerful Men’s Panel moderated by Maurice Williams, Executive Director of A Father’s Love; Divine 9 Toast, birthday tributes, and the Boots on the Ground Line Dancing Competition; A Paddle Raise Fundraiser benefiting A Father’s Love Personal Development and Community Services; and more.
A historic declaration, in a groundbreaking moment, Festival President Darlene Williams, alongside Legislator Jason Richberg, Assemblymember Tommy John Schiavoni, East Hampton Town Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez, and other elected officials, will officially declare August as Black Authors Festival Month on the East End.
