BLACK HOUSEHOLDS ARE SAVING MONEY BY STREAMING THEIR TV CHANNELS WITH USAPrimeTV

Nationwide -- USAPrimeTV (AKA USAStreamingTV), a Black-owned company, is using technology to help break barriers that have limited many African Americans from having affordable access to live network channels. USA Today reports that the average cable subscriber spends about $85 a month for cable and more than $100 a month for satellite TV.

USAPrimeTV's Marketing Director Joseph Scales says, "Technology is always changing and improving. Today many people are looking for ways to save money and cut the cord. The old days of accessing cable TV and digital media through hardwired devices like satellite dishes and bulky cable boxes are being replaced by more cost efficient online applications and easy plug and play devices like Amazons Firestick.

This allows the same content to be streamed directly to your tv, phones, tablets and laptops through IPTV also known as (Internet Protocol TV). ACCOUNTANT HELPING ENTREPRENEURS WHO RECEIVED PPP FUNDING WITH THEIR BOOKKEEPING

Nationwide  Meet Christanne Wright, Founder and CEO of Your Wright Resource LLC, who is helping small business owners who were approved for Payroll Protection Program (PPP), but have not thought much about what is required to document their use of the funds.

MUSC WORLD-CLASS VITAMIN D RESEARCH TEAM TO STUDY CONNECTION TO COVID-19 PREVENTION AND TREATMENT

Charleston, SC  Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Medicine scientists and clinicians, led by world-renowned vitamin D research experts Bruce Hollis, Ph.D., professor emeritus in the Department of Pediatrics, and Carol Wagner, M.D., a professor in the Department of Pediatrics and neonatologist, are planning a focused research effort to determine if individuals with sufficient baseline levels of vitamin D have more protection against severe COVID-19 infection.

Recent reports in the medical literature point toward a potential link between vitamin D deficiency and the pathogenesis of COVID-19 in certain patients. This information aligns with what Hollis, Wagner and other national experts have established in their own vitamin D research in at-risk populations - unrelated to COVID-19 - that vitamin D deficiency is more prevalent among African Americans and individuals with more melanin in their skin as well as in some elderly nursing home residents who have very low exposure to sunlight. In addition, effective vitamin D repletion can be accomplished safely and with minimal expense.

LISA A. THOMAS ADOPTED SIX CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND IS FEATURED IN NEW BOOK BY CELEBRITY PHOTOJOURNALIST

Nationwide -- Lisa A. Thomas is the featured subject of celebrity photojournalist Bruce Bell's new photographic timeline, "In Search of the Authentic Lisa A. Thomas." She is a philanthropist, advocate, and the mother of six adopted children with special needs.

Lisa was born in Beaumont, Texas on August 31, 1966, to Walter and LouAnna Thomas. She is number six of seven children, two boys and four girls. In her struggle to find herself amidst all of life's challenges.

Life's challenges have shaped Lisa and made her a pleasant mystery. She is a gift to so many people in the disability's arena, a legendary enigma to some, and a multi-faceted diamond to others.

PROSTATE CANCER SURVIVORS: THREE AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH NON-INVASIVE HIFU PROCEDURE

Nationwide -- Three African American men: Reggie Dye, a healthcare executive, Thomas Newell, a retired basketball referee for youth at risk and Victory Murray, NASA lead engineer whose team repaired Apollo 13, wanted a better way to treat their prostate cancer - one that promises a better quality of life post-treatment than surgery and radiation which are the standards of care. These two procedures can come with a greater risk of urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction and penile shrinkage.

When diagnosed with localized prostate cancer, they each selected a noninvasive procedure called High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). They got together to share each of their stories about their HIFU treatment, which is widely used across the world, but still relatively new in the United States, with select physicians across the country delivering the treatment.

HIFU is a noninvasive focal-therapy procedure that destroys targeted prostate tissue. HIFU directs extremely precise high-frequency sound waves that heat up and burn off only the diseased portion of the prostate, sparing surrounding tissue and nerves. Therefore, risks of common side effects associated with surgery and radiation -- urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction -- are lessened with HIFU.

Heart disease is the number one killer for all Americans, and stroke is also a leading cause of death.  As frightening as those statistics are the risks of getting those diseases are even higher for African- Americans.  The good news is, African-Americans can improve their odds of preventing and beating these diseases by understanding the risks and taking simple steps to address them.
