WIT Academy Scholarship Program Helps Promising Black Students Excel in Technology

Wade Institute of Technology (WIT), an experiential Silicon Valley-based college for students of African descent pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, announced that it is accepting applications for the 2025 Wade Scholarship Program (WSP).

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be admitted to a master’s degree program ranked within the U.S. News & World Report Top 30 U.S. graduate schools of engineering and/or the graduate engineering program of any of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

“There has been an alarming drop in the number of Black STEM professionals, who were already woefully underrepresented in these fields,” said WIT Executive Director Booker T. Wade, Jr. “This scholarship helps ease the financial burden that is often a contributing factor to the drop-off of Black students in the educational pipeline. We are committed to the goal of promoting increased diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM through expanded educational opportunities.”

Vision Films (“Vision”) announces the North American Transactional VOD release of TV personality and relationship expert Aaron Jordan Jr.’s full-length feature Dating My Past on February 11, 2025. Based on Jordan’s successful book, The Power Within, A Woman’s Worth: From Both Sexes, the film is a contemporary Black love story that sheds light on the complexities and personal battles of dating in today’s world, emphasizing self-reflection, love, and the journey of self-discovery.

 The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium (Southern Black Girls) proudly announces the appointment of Chanceé Lundy as its new Executive Director. A distinguished environmental engineer, entrepreneur, and social justice advocate, Lundy brings decades of leadership experience to an organization dedicated to empowering Black girls and women across the South.

Founded in 2017, Southern Black Girls channels resources to underfunded Black women-led organizations that empower Black girls and women in 13 Southern states. The consortium has awarded over $10.2 million to more than 220 Black girl and women-led organizations and empowered over 800 girls with microgrants totaling nearly $500,000 since its inception. Black Girls Defense Fund Launches Mini-Grants for $2K to Fight Dehumanization and Protect Their Fundamental Rights

The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium (SBGWC) announces the opening of its Black Girls Defense Fund: Resistance and Resilience Grant Application, providing financial support to organizations fighting against dehumanization and protecting the fundamental rights of Black girls and women in the South.

With grants of up to $2,000, this funding opportunity is designed to strengthen community-led efforts addressing the unique challenges Black girls face that include adultification, dehumanization, and violence. Black girls are in need of legal support, protection, and advocacy in a world that robs them of their innocence as children.

Entrepreneur Creates 40th Birthday Trip to Egypt as “A Love Letter to Black Women”

In what she dreamed to be a “love letter to Black women”, Krystal Hardy Allen personally planned and curated an unforgettable journey to Africa for her and six of her closest friends as a way to honor and spend time with them as Black women who have walked beside her through varying decades of her life.

In a season where Black women are prioritizing rest and self-care more, successful entrepreneur and author Krystal Hardy Allen found therapeutic relief abroad in the royal motherland. To celebrate her 40th birthday, on Jan. 15th, the CEO and Founder of K. Allen Consulting and six of her closest girlfriends stamped their passports and embarked on a transformative trip to Cairo, Egypt.
