Some 1359 days ago - Inauguration Day- we started counting till the next election cycle which culminated Nov 3rd. Up until now we (not all of us) have engaged in major rationalization that the current resident of the White House would be more than a quintessential occupant.
Some have lead with genuine interest for the country and others have had genuine interest to lead without an ability to do so. But this president has no ability to lead and no interest in the wellbeing of its citizenry. So he tried anything to fake it until he made it. He didn't!
Entrusted to take the country to next level he instead has taken the country to its nadir. But in reality we - and you are not going to like it - have been “played.”

The latest facts sheets says Covid19 has one-upmanship over the entire planet and the US too as 244,000 people are already dead with spiking stats as flu season lurk ominously. To say the pandemic is running amok is an understatement. The fallout has put millions more are out of work while aimless leaders play ping pong with governmental relief. Many wonder if the world is coming to an end or if the good book is having its say.
The good book talks about plagues - ten of them - that include agricultural blights, such as locusts; diseases, boils; supernatural or astronomical plagues, storms of fire or darkness; and, finally, the tenth plague — the killing of all firstborn Egyptian sons which can be interpreted as sons of color. The prophecy hits precipitously close to home. Think murder hornet, modified mosquitoes, Black Lives Matter, and dwindling bee population as symptomatic of our global dysfunction. Yet, it’s the fires and the storms that seems to mimic biblical prophetic fury. The 2020 season has produced 25 named storms (the average for an entire season is 12), but roughly half as many hurricanes.
Human intervention will find no CNTL ALT DELETE button to reset the choice we made and actually give credence to the saying we get what we pay for - in this case a nightmare. Keep in mind choices have consequences and woe the plethora of consequences we have tendered in blood, misery, and lives lost. People who refuse to wear masks, for example, are like drunk drivers with the same reckless indifference to their own safety and the safety of others. Chronic mask-rejecters - like Karen - are addicted to political rage, and to our country’s deep-seated culture of toxic individualism.
Fast forward to day three - Nov 5th -after the election and you will find the world holding its collective breath awaiting every vote - mailed, absentee, and in person to be counted anyhow. Accounting is an exact profession but sometimes necessitate an audit for validation. When you audit the last four years of leadership in the US - all branches - you find an abysmal void. Its no wonder we can’t contain a pandemic, pass a stimulus, appease social unrest, restore hope and promise.
As we wait in what seems life a lifetime for a concession the US has engaged in, the past four years, behavior known in the sporting world as “tanking.” An expression used in sports to characterize a team waiting until the next season or next election in this case because they see no chance this season or cycle to win. When applied to the current state of affairs, we found ourselves, especially after the impeachment fiasco failed to remove a certified mental patient, crestfallen, and in the classic tanking position.
Tanking in sports and in life is a passive endeavor, as teams and leaders go through the motion. They don the uniform of patriotism and drink the kool aide of making America great again by promulgating falsehood, denigrating processes, stacking and politicizing courts, ignoring police brutality, eschewing crisis management, and hijacking the nation with narcissistic vicissitudes.
Like fans who pay to participate in a bubble with bobbleheads voters have already paid - in real terms - an exorbitant price to participate only to confront systemic efforts of suppression, harassment, and intimidation. These efforts in conjunction with a pandemic did not stop 159 million people from casting their political preference...sending the message “enough already” as red states turned blue, fraud claims proved untrue, and change in the queue.

Now that the votes have been counted - popular and electoral - and we have a new president elect it is the deeper dive that tells us its not all about the current resident of the White House. Anybody of lies will never cloak the codes written in this country's DNA. This country issues did not start nor will they end with the presidency... truth be told and not a white lie - he is but a manifestation of the code of white supremacy.
Meanwhile many are despondent Biden’s victory was not an electoral landslide that would serve as a repudiation of the president's reckless racist agenda but it was. Here's why: it takes one point to win a Super Bowl, an NBA championship, or a World Series...and one electoral vote to gain the highest office in the land. No one likes a runaway super bowl or a boring World Series but if you have been “ tanking “ for four years instead of facing political and social realism you want a landslide to ease the ineptitude of “tanking.” Those who deploy tanking as a pretext to eschew deep dive engagement don't deserve a landslide. However, because they (Democrats) won - recently Arizona and Georgia - they can consider it a landslide - only - because they overcame their opponent's playbook (Make America White Again) - despite not having one.
The litany of dysfunction, malfunction, and un-functional acts and behavior by this president speaks to the only endgame of one term. With 244,000 COVID deaths on his head, 550 needlessly orphaned children by his hand, and to consort with known adversaries represent egregious acts of inertia. But it's the lack of empathy in attacking the Affordable Care Act affecting millions in the middle of a centennial pandemic that makes his presidency untenable.
The president still has two more months to wreak havoc while Senate collaborators threatens to wage a campaign of economic and social sabotage and the Supreme Court loom as a monstrous blockade against the majority coalition’s attempt to usher a new normality. While dishonorably characterizing the Black Lives movement as a movement of hate on the one hand and sanctioned the Proud boys on another this administration seems to have operated within a bubble doing anything, anyway, anyhow.
It all may seem complicated but it's not. From the oath of office to a concession forthcoming empathy could save our souls.

In my opinion, JV Howard's Op-Ed article, "You're Fired!" … clearly identified numerous examples of an individual's incompetent leadership abilities (executive dysfunctions: mental, social and behavioral).
